NORTHFIELD TRAVELED TO RICHFIELD FOR A BOYS’ BASKETBALL MATCHUP

The Northfield Raiders took on the Richfield Spartans in a boys’ basketball matchup at Richfield. Richfield came into the game with a 5-2 record and Northfield came into the game with a 1-6 record.

Northfield started out playing tight man-to-man defense. They wanted to put pressure on Richfield to begin the game.


Richfield wanted to get the ball into Jay Sewer’s hands. Sewer ran Richfield’s offense. He had a nice jump shot and he was not afraid to use both sides of the court.

Northfield looked to get the ball into Otto Pfeffle’s hands as he was camped on the low box. When he got the ball he went to work on the low block and posted up his defender.

Richfield looked to push the ball in transition. Once the ball was out of the basket they looked to attack the basket and push the ball up the court. On the fast break Richfield’s Jay Sewer was able to find Erik Jimson cutting to the basket and Jimson was able to come away with a nice layup.

Both teams looked to push the ball in the first half. Neither team was able to go on a run in the first half.

The defense that was displayed by both teams was very tight. Neither team was able to go on a run in the first half.

At the half the score was Northfield 20 and Richfield 19. The first half both teams played very well. Neither of the teams was able to go on a run and the defense was very good by both teams.

As the second half got underway Richfield came out and looked to make a statement on the defensive end. They were playing very aggressively on the defensive end.

This was a defensive battle. Both teams played extremely hard on the defensive ends of the court. Northfield was not able to contain Richfield’s Jay Sewer. They had trouble containing him and he was all over the court.

Northfield didn’t give up. They were not able to open the second half strong and they missed a lot of shots that they were putting up early on and Richfield was able to capitalize and they were able to make shots.

Northfield was able to make a late rally and go on a run late in the game. With about 5 minutes left in the game


Richfield’s shots were not dropping and that is when Northfield was able to go on their run.

Both of these teams played extremely well. Northfield was able to make a late game run at Richfield.

Northfield’s Otto Pfefferle was able to make the tying basket at 49 with 5 seconds left.

In the overtime period both teams stepped up and Richfield continued to get the ball into Jay Sewer’s hand.

The game came down to the end. Both teams played extremely well and hard throughout the game.

Richfield was able to come away with the 54-52 overtime victory over Northfield. For Richfield Jay Sewer ended with 20 points.
