MINNEAPOLIS NORTH WENT UP AGAINST ST. PAUL JOHNSON IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Feb. 29, Minneapolis North and St. Paul Johnson went up against each other in a boys’ basketball game. Both teams won their conference championship. North won the Minneapolis conference title and Johnson won the St. Paul conference title.

Johnson looked to control the tempo early in the game. North also looked to push the ball down the floor and control the tempo as well.

North used a full-court press as they looked to turn the ball over and looked for layups. North’s Davon Townley came up with shots early.

Johnson got their offense going early they were able to get everyone involved in the offense. Johnson’s Larry Harris came up with shots early.

North called a timeout with 14:01 left in the first half. The score was Johnson 9, North 6.

North’s CJ Brown III came off the bench and provided an offensive power as his teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

North was also able to get the ball into the hands of Quientrail Jamison-Travis. He came up with layups in transition.

The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team went on a run early. 

Johnson looked to get the ball into the hands of Christian Jones, Jones came up with mid-range jump shots and layups.

North’s De'Meiko Anderson cam up with shots and kept North in the game. If Anderson didn’t think that he could make his shot, he would pass it to one of his teammates.

North got into their offense and came up with shots and stops late in the first half. North’s Sanders, Anderson and Butler and Brown all came up with shots in the first half.

Johnson called a timeout with 5:07 left in the first half. The score was North 28, Johnson 25.

Johnson swung the ball around the 3-point line and took time off the clock late in the game.

Johnson’s Jalen James stepped up and knocked down 3-point shots layups late. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

Johnson looked to trap North and turn them over and came up with layups in transition.

Johnson called a timeout with 1:51 left in the first half. The score was North 36, Johnson 30.

North went to a zone and that made Johnson look inside and had to pass the ball around the 3-point line.

Johnson’s Julian Hodges came up with layups late in the game.

At halftime, the score was North 42, Johnson 34.

Johnson’s Julian Hodges came up with mid-range jump shots and layups.  Hodges also came off screens and got to the basket.

Townley looked to come up with layups off turnovers early in the second half.

North called a timeout with 14:32 left in regulation. The score was North 47, Johnson 38.

Hodges stepped up and knocked down deep 3-point shots throughout the second half. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

Jamison-Travis came up with layups off rebounds on the offensive end. His teammates got him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

Anderson came up with shots throughout the second half. He kept the energy high and talked to his teammates on both ends of the floor.

Hodges kept on coming up with shots throughout the second half.

North called a timeout with 9:10 left in regulation. The score was North 59, Johnson 50.

Anderson was able to get pass his defense and on the offensive end, he stepped up and knocked down 3-point shots.

North’s Jacob Butler came up with deep 3-point shots in the game. His teammates were able to get him the ball where he could shoot the ball.

Both teams played well throughout the game. The energy was high throughout the game.

North continued to attack the basket and game up with shots late.

Johnson called a timeout with 4:04 left in regulation. The score was North 75, Johnson 64.

Johnson came up with shots late in the game. Even though they were down they kept on battling and came up with shots.

North called a timeout with 2:50 left in regulation. The score was North 70, Johnson 68.

Johnson stepped up their offense and they were able to come up with shots late in the second half.

Both teams played well throughout the game. Johnson battled throughout the whole game. North came away with the 86-79 victory over Johnson.
