With the lower deck at the University of Minnesota almost filled, the Gopher Men's basketball season got off with a bang on Friday night with Tubby's Tip off. The night started out with a pyrotechnic display. Then all of the lights were turned off the 2008-2009 Gopher Men's basketball team was introduced to the crowd. Everything started with a three point contest and right after, a dunk contest. Then, they played a twenty minute inner squad scrimmage.
A couple of future Gophers were in the crowd at this year's Tubby tip off. Rodney Williams and Royce White were on hand to witness this year's Tubby's Tip off. As they got a feel of the event that they will take part in next year.
