HOPKINS TAKING ON LAKE GENEVA BAGER (WI) IN THE 2009 GATORADE MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES SHOOTOUT

I have made it to the Target Center in downtown Minneapolis to cover the final three games here this afternoon. In the earlier games that were held today it was Pelican Rapids over Cloquet by the final of 87-57. In the second game it was Osseo over Sioux Falls by the final of 82-43. In the third game it was Madison Memorial 67 and Pelican Rapids 87.

The Minnesota Gophers beat Ohio State by the final of 68-59. In the fourth game of the day it is Hopkins taking on Lake Geneva Badger out of Wisconsin. As this games gets underway here Hopkins has come out on fire as they have gotten an 8-3 lead to begin this game. Hopkins has started out playing a tough man to man defense here to start this game out. Hopkins has been able to swing the ball around the perimeter here in the early goings of this game.Lake Geneva Badgers are playing well here in this game; they have really gotten after it here in the early goings of this game.

With 11:23 left to go in the first half the score is Hopkins 16 and Lake Geneva 9.

This Hopkins team is really getting after it so far here in this game. Lake Geneva has had trouble holding the ball here in this game so far today. Hopkins is playing really aggressive here so far today. Hopkins is playing well so far today. They have been able to make shots that they have been able to put up in the game today.

Lake Geneva has been on a scoring drought here in the first half they were not able to make a shot here for a period of time in the first half. They have been able to get there shot back here but so far in the first half they can try to make a comeback in the second half. Hopkins has just been too quick for this Lake Geneva team to handle.

At half time the score is Hopkins 50 and Lake Geneva 15.

As this second half gets underway here will see how this second half turns out. Lake Geneva has basically no chance of making a run here because this Hopkins team is just so good but these kids are putting in an effort and they are playing hard here in this game. Raymond Cowles is playing well here in this game. He has been able to get his guys focused when they are on the court. He has also made some nice moves around the basket. He has also had some nice drives here in this game.

Royce White is playing aggressively here in this game. He has been all over the rebounds and has really gotten after it here in this game. Joe Colman has just come down and had a nice jump shot here. He has also looked good here today. Both of these teams have gotten up and down the court here today it is just that Hopkins has been able to do what they have wanted to do with the ball when they have had the ball.

Tubby Smith the head coach of the University of Minnesota and members of his coaching staff are in attendance here today after their win over Ohio State this afternoon.

Ken Novak has been doing a lot of substitutions here as his team has had control of this game the whole entire time here today. This Hopkins team is a very deep team as they are able to place a number of different players out on the court and they are to be successful on the court.

The final of this game was Hopkins 79 and Lake Geneva Badger 41.

For Hopkins Royce White was there leading scorer this evening he had 15 points to lead Hopkins. Hopkins remains undefeated.
