PROVIDENCE ACADEMY TOOK ON PERHAM IN THE MINNESOTA STATE HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE STATE QUARTERFINAL GAME AT ST. CLOUD STATE UNIVERSITY

Providence Academy took on Perham in the Minnesota State High School League class AAA state high school quarterfinal game at St. Cloud State University. Providence Academy came into the game with a record of 9-2. Perham came into the game with a record of 8-3.

Providence kicked off to Perham to start the game. Perham was not able to get a first down on their first series and they had to punt the ball on fourth down.

Providence kept the ball on the ground on their first series of the game. Providence looked to get the ball into the hands of Marshall Klitzke. Providence fumbled the ball and Perham came up with the ball.

Perham was able to pick up first downs. They were successful in their running game. Jordan Hein the quarterback was able to scamper for 29 yards for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was no good.

With 5:50 left in the first quarter the score was Perham 6 and Providence 0.

Perham kicked off to Providence after the touchdown. Providence’s Daniel Ledial came up with a nice reception and was able to get his team a first down. Providence looked to gain small yards on little running routs. They went for it on fourth down but they came up short. They turned it over to Perham on downs.

Perham was intercepted by Kellen Carney. Providence got the ball on the Perham 22 yard line.

At the end of the first quarter the score was Perham 6 and Providence 0.

Providence got the ball to start the second quarter and they tried to march down the field.

Perham called a timeout with 10:41 left in the second quarter.

Providence found the end zone on a Marshall Kilitzke touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good. With 10:27 left in the second quarter the score was Providence 7 and Perham 6.

Perham got the ball back after the touchdown. They tried to march down the field and they fumbled the ball and Providence recovered it.

Providence got the ball and they looked to get the ball into the end zone. Marshall Kilitze ran into the end zone for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.

With 7:18 left in the second quarter the score was Providence 14 and Perham 6.

Perham got the ball back after the touchdown. Perham looked to move the ball down the field. On fourth down and one yard to go they went for it and they were not able to get the first down.

Providence got the ball on the turnover on downs. Providence was able to get the ball into the hands of their running backs. They looked to get the ball in the end zone once again as they were able to march down the field picking up first downs. Nick Schmitz came up with a nice reception and Marshall Kilitze came up for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.

With 3:26 left in the second quarter the score was Providence 21 and Perham 6.

Providence kicked off to Perham after the touchdown. Perham kept looking for ways to get into the end zone.

Perham looked to score on the last drive of the second quarter.

Providence took a timeout with 56.8 seconds left in the second quarter.

Perham's Jordan Hein scored a touchdown with 52.2 left in the quarter. The extra point attempt was no good.

At halftime the score was Providence 21 and Perham 12.

Perham kicked off to Providence to start the third quarter. Providence Academy punted the ball on fourth down and 14 to go on the first drive of the third quarter.

Perham got the ball back and they were able to get another first down. Perham's Gabe Pankonin scored a touchdown with 7:09 left in the third quarter. The extra point attempt was good.

With that touchdown the score was Providence 21 and Perham 19.

Providence was intercepted and Perham came up with the ball. Perham was not able to come up with a first down and they punted it back to Providence.

Providence got the ball back into the hands into Marshall Kiltze hands. Once again Providence threatened to score late in the quarter. Jackson Canfield scored a touchdown on a short yard run. The extra point attempt was good.

With 2:06 left in the third quarter the score was Providence 28 and Perham 19.

Perham got the ball back after the touchdown.

At the end of the third quarter the score was Providence 28 and Perham 19.

Providence got the ball to start the fourth quarter. Providence kept pounding the ball on the ground. They looked to pick up first downs on every drive.

Perham was intercepted on a passing play that gave Providence the ball back.

Jackson Canfield came up with some big plays throughout the game.

I really thought that both teams played well. This was the first time that I have seen either of these two teams play this season. I also was impressed by the play of Providence Academy's Marshall Kiltze. He ended up with three touchdowns and was all over the field. I was also impressed by the play of his teammate Jackson Canfield.

Providence came away with the 28-19 victory over Perham. After the game I was able to talk to Providence head coach Nate Harrington about the game. He said, “The kids worked the plan that was four years in the making”. He said Marshal Kiltze played well and he was a workhorse.
Marshall Kiltze said that this team, “was faster playing on turf and the o line played great. The loss to St. Croix Lutheran was tough. We got our confidence back after the Break win.”

Jackson Canfield said, “It was a great win against a great team. Went back to a basic running game.”
