FRIDLEY WENT UP AGAINST RICHFIELD IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Feb. 7, Fridley and Richfield went up against each other in a boys’ basketball game. Going into the game Fridley had a record of 9-9 while Richfield’s was 14-4. 

Richfield pushed the ball down the floor and was able to score layups in transition. Richfield’s Isaiah Casey Hammond came up with mid-range jump shots and layups early. His teammates got him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

Fridley passed the ball around the 3-point line and got everyone involved in the offense. Fridley struggled shooting the ball early. Even though they struggled shooting the ball they kept on shooting the ball. 

Richfield’s Jaden Wollmuth came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the first half. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

Richfield looked to take time off the clock by swinging the ball around the 3-point line. They were able to keep the ball out of the hands of Fridley. 

Richfield’s Lamar Grayson took the ball strong to the basket as he came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. Hammond kept on coming up with mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the first half. 

Fridley went into a scoring slump with just under 8:00 left in the first half. They were not able to make a shot in several attempts. 

Richfield used their quickness to get past the Fridley defense. 

Richfield went to a zone defense late in the first half. That made Fridley swing the ball around the 3-point line and get into their offense.

Richfield moved the ball well down the floor as they got everyone involved in the offense. They also did a good job of getting Hammond the ball in spots where he could shoot it. 

Fridley called a timeout with 4:01 left in the first half. The score was Richfield 39, Fridley 22. 

Richfield’s Mitchel January came up with mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the first half. The defense had a hard time slowing January down on the offensive end. 

At halftime, the score was Richfield 45, Fridley 31. 

As the second half got underway Richfield continued to push the ball down the floor and looked to make shots. 

Richfield passed the ball around the 3-point line and got everyone involved in the offense and take time off the clock. 

Fridley got their offense going midway through the second half. Fridley’s Christian Crockett came up with mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the second half. His teammates got him involved in the offense. 

Richfield’s Lamar Grayson came up with layups in transition. He was able to get past the Fridley defense and come up with mid-range jump shots and layups. 

Fridley called a timeout with 11:56 left in regulation. The score was Richfield 59, Fridley 49.

Fridley’s Charles Rice came up with layups and mid-range jump shots in the second half. His teammates got him the ball in spots where he could shoot it. 

Fridley’s Isaac Burns came up with layups in the second half that kept Fridley in the game. 

Richfield went into a scoring slump with just under 10:00 left in regulation. 

Fridley kept attacking the basket and came up with shots. They got the deficit down to 4 with just under 8:30 to go in regulation.

Grayson came up with clutch shots in the second half. His teammates got him the ball in spots where he could shoot it. 

Both teams stepped up and knocked down 3-point shots throughout the second half. 

Richfield continued to swing the ball around the 3-point line while they were running their offense and Grayson came off screens and got to the basket with layups. Teammate Ryan Miles also got his shot rolling late in the game. 

Richfield called a timeout with 3:17 left in regulation. The score was Richfield 82, Fridley 73. 

Grayson continued to come up with mid-range jump shots and layups late in the game. 

Fridley called a timeout with 48 seconds left in regulation. The score was Richfield 87, Fridley 79.

Fridley looked to trap the ball was Richfield tried to advance the ball down the floor.

Fridley got to the basket and came up with shots late in the game. It wasn’t enough however as Richfield came away with the 89-82 victory over Fridley.
