MINNEAPOLIS EDISON WENT UP AGAINST MINNEAPOLIS NORTH IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Feb. 14, Minneapolis Edison and Minneapolis North went up against each other in a boys’ basketball game. Going into the game Edison had a record of 10-9 while North’s record was 15-5. 

North won the toss and got to work on the offensive end. North’s Davon Townley came up with a two-handed slam dunk. 

Edison looked to bring the ball down the floor but was not able to come up with baskets early. 

Edison called a timeout with 16:56 left in the first half. The score was North 8, Edison 0.

North’s Mario Sanders II came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. Sanders was also able to make deep 3-point shots as well. 

Edison’s Pierre Hampton came up with mid-range jump shots and free throws in the first half. 

North called a timeout with 11:41 left in the first half. The score was North 21, Edison 8.

After the timeout, North continued to push the ball down the floor and come up with shots. North’s CJ Brown III came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it. 

Both teams dove on the floor after loose balls and went after rebounds on both ends of the floor. 

Edison looked to come up with steals on the defensive end and turn them into layups on the offensive end. 

Edison’s Ibrahim Mohamud came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the first half. He was able to get past the North’s defense. 

The Edison offense came to life with just under 7:00 left in the first half. 

North called a timeout with 5:29 left in the first half. The score was North 33, Edison 28.

Edison went to a zone defense and that made North pass the ball around the 3-point line. Edison’s Ramell Hill came up with deep 3-point shots and layups. 

Edison called a timeout with 3:58 left in the first half. The score was North 37, Edison 31. 

North applied pressure at half court. Edison was able to come up with turnovers on the defensive end and turned them into layups on the offensive end. 

North’s Jacob Butler received a technical foul with 16.3 seconds left in the first half.

At halftime, the score was North 43, Edison 37. 

As the second half got underway North got off to a slow start. They passed the ball around the 3-point line and looked to get everyone involved in the offense. 

Hill continued to come up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the second half. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

The score went back and forth throughout the second half. 

North’s CJ Brown III came up with deep 3-point shots in the second half. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it. 

Hill continued to come up with mid-range jump shots and layups. He kept his team in the game by making shots. 

North attacked the basket late in the game. North looked to get the ball inside more often to Quientrail Jamison-Travis. Jamison-Travis looked to post up and take and make layups from the low block. 
Edison called a timeout with 8:46 left in regulation. The score was North 64, Edison 59. 

North came up with shots late in the game. They were able to slow down the Edison offense and come up with stops on the defensive end. 

Things got interesting with 4:34 left in regulation as tempers flared between the teams. There was pushing and shoving between the two teams. But things got simmered down quickly. 

North’s offense got going in the second half. Edison didn’t back down however as they kept on attacking the basket looking for their shots. Brown really came up with layups and mid-range jump shots in the second half.

North came away with the 91-79 victory over Edison. 

The leading scorers for Edison were Ramell Hill with 25 points, Jabari Langley with 15 points, and Ibrahim Mohamud with 14 points. 

The leading scorers for North were Davon Townley 24 points, Clifford Brown III 21 points, Willie Wilson with 19 points, and Mario Sanders II with 15 points.
