AUGUSTANA COLLEGE TOOK ON CONCORDIA-ST. PAUL IN A FOOTBALL GAME

On Nov. 8 Augustana College out of Sioux Falls, SD went up against Concordia-St. Paul in a football game. Augustana had a record of 5-4 in the NSIC and were 2-3 in the South division. Concordia St. Paul had a record of 3-6 in the NSIC and were 2-3 in the South division.  

Augustana kicked off to start the game. Concordia started on their own 15-yard line. Concordia looked to get the ball into the hands of running back Tre Spears. Quarterback Ben Schramski did a good job of knowing what plays what plays he wanted ran. Schramski was able to get some running room as he came up with a five-yard rush. They were not able to get a first down so on fourth-and four Concordia punted it.

Augustana took over on their own 25-yard line. Augustana's running back CJ Ham came up with a huge run for a first down.

Concordia called a timeout with 10 minutes left in the first quarter.

Heid was able to get the ball into his receivers. Heid was intercepted by Jimmy Mireri.

Concordia took over on the 43-yard line after the Mireri interception. Spears ran eight yards for a first down. The Augustana defense stepped up the pressure as the quarterback had difficult time moving in the pocket. Spears fumbled the ball on the 2-yard line. Augustana recovered it.

Augustana took over on their own 2-yard line. Heid came up with a 27-yard run. Heid was intercepted by Concordia’s Abdullah Asad. Concordia took over on their own 39-yard line.

Concordia couldn’t move the ball. They punted on fourth-and-five.

Augustana took over on their own 8-yard line. Augustana’s running back Dajon Newell came up with a 47-yard run.

After one quarter of play the score was tied at 0.

Augustana had to punt on fourth-and-eight.

Concordia took over on their own 21-yard line. Concordia running back Darius Chapes got the ball and was able to come up with a 44-yard run for a first down. Spears came up with a first down on a short run. On the next play Spears came up with a 15-yard touchdown run.

The extra-point attempt by Tom Obarski was good.

With 10:27 left in the second quarter the score was Concordia 7, Augustana 0.

Augustana continued to get the ball into the hands of Ham. Heid was taken down by the defense.

Ham picked up a first down on a 12-yard screen pass. On fourth-and-six Augustana punted the ball.

Spears came up with a first down on a 56-yard run. On fourth-and-26 yards to go Concordia attempted a 43-yard field goal and it was no good.

Augustana looked to keep the ball in Heid’s hands. On fourth-and-11 Augustana punted it.

Concordia took over on their own 45-yard line.

At halftime the score was Concordia 7, Augustana 0.

Concordia kicked off to start the third quarter. Augustana took over on their own 21-yard line. Ham caught a 14-yard pass for a first down. The defense slowed down the Augustana offense on the first drive. Augustana punted on fourth-and-12.

Concordia took over on their own 24-yard line. Spears looked to move the ball down the field but the defense was able to bottle him up. On fourth-and-13 Concordia punted the ball.

Augustana took over on the 46-yard line. Augustana’s Nick Lee came up with a nice catch. They did a good job of switching between the passing and running attack. Newell came up with a 16-yard first down reception. On fourth-and-eight Augustana attempted a 43-yard attempt which was no good.

Concordia took over on their 26-yard line. Concordia couldn’t move the ball and punted the ball on fourth-and-long.

Augustana tried to use some trickery late in the third quarter. They were not able to get a first down and turned it over on downs.

Spears came up with a six-yard run for a first down. Concordia continued to move the ball down the field.

After three quarters of play the score was Concordia 7, Augustana 0.

Concordia looked to get into the end zone early in the fourth quarter. On fourth-and-4 Obarski attempted a 34-yard field goal which was good.

With 12:09 left in the fourth quarter the score was Concordia 10, Augustana 0.

Augustana looked to the passing game again. They had a difficult time getting their passing game on track. Matt Heller came up with a 48-yard reception. Matt Gerry came up with a 14-yard touchdown reception. The extra-point attempt was good.

With 9:22 left in the fourth quarter the score was Concordia 10, Augustana 7.

Concordia came up with a huge run by Spears for 30 yards Concordia came up with a first down on a huge reception by Cordell Smith. Spears came up with a 14-yard touchdown run.

The extra-point attempt was good.

With 4:25 left in the fourth quarter the score was Concordia 17, Augustana 7.

Augustana looked to move the ball down the field quickly. As they looked to get into the end zone.

Concordia’s Jordan Nieuwsma came up with an interception. On fourth-and-seven Concordia punted the ball. The punt was block.

Augustana took over on the nine yard. On fourth-and-13 Augustana attempted a 29-yard field goal.

The field goal was no good.

Spears played well thought out the game. The Concordia offense was able to beat the defense down the field. Concordia’s Cordell Smith came up with some big catches throughout the game.

Concordia came away with the 17-7 victory over Augustana.
