PARK CENTER TOOK ON ORONO IN THE MSHSL GIRLS STATE CLASS A SEMIFINALS IN SOCCER

Park Center and Orono squared off in a girls state semifinal soccer game. Park Center looked to move the ball quickly down the field as they wanted to attack the Orono defenders.

Orono did a good job of communicating with each other as they looked for scoring chances in the first half.


Park Center goaltender Emily Nelson came up with some big saves in the first half. The defenders also did a good job of getting the ball away from the Orono offense.

With 11:35 left in the first half Orono’s Carly Hewitt scored a goal with the assist going to Sophie Babo.

With that goal that made the score Orono 1, Park Center 0.

There was a large scrum out in front of the Park Center goal. As a result with 6:58 left in the first half Orono scored again on a direct free kick by Babo. 


With that goal that made the score Orono 2, Park Center 0.

Both teams continued to move the ball down the field. 


At halftime the score remained Orono 2, Park Center 0. 

As the second half got underway both teams continued to move the ball down the field. 

Orono did a good job of attacking the Park Center defenders. Orono was a little quicker than Park Center. Park Center did get after the ball and was able to attack the net but Orono’s goalkeeper Jessica Woessner did a good job of blocking the ball.

With 22:42 left in regulation Orono’s Babo scored another goal. With Babo’s goal that made the score Orono 3, Park Center 0.

Orono continued to move the ball well down the field. They did a good job of keeping the ball away from Park Center. 


Orono’s Alexandra Rusciano scored a goal. With 17:43 left in regulation the score was Orono 4, Park Center 0. 

Orono’s Babo was all over the field and played well throughout the game.

Orono came away with the 4-0 semifinal victory over Park Center.

After the game Babo said that Park Center played a physical game. We prepared well. I thought that my teammates played to the best of their ability and am so proud of the fans and how the game turned out”.
