ST. PAUL JOHNSON TOOK ON MINNEAPOLIS ROOSEVELT IN A BOYS BASKETBALL GAME

St. Paul Johnson and Minneapolis Roosevelt went up against each other in a boys basketball game at Minneapolis Henry High School as part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Classic.
 
Johnson looked to push the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition.
 
Roosevelt started the ball in zone defense. They looked to slow down Johnson in transition.
 
Roosevelt called a timeout with 16:24 left in the first half. The score was Johnson 5, Roosevelt 2.
 
Johnson’s Jalen Mobley got hot from the paint. He was dead on. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in the paint where he made his jump shots.
 
Roosevelt’s London Cobbs made his layups throughout the first half. The defense had a hard time slowing him down.
 
Mobley continued to knock down deep three-point shots midway through the first half. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.
 
Roosevelt called a timeout with 7:25 left in the first half. The score was Johnson 25, Roosevelt 19.
 
Johnson continued to push the ball down the floor and get baskets in transition. Roosevelt was able to keep up with Johnson in transition.
 
Roosevelt’s Terrence Hicks called for the ball near the top of the key and knocked down jump shots from there.
 
Johnson’s Eric Elliot came up with some nice shots in the paint to keep his team on top late in the first half.
 
At halftime the score was Johnson 41, Roosevelt 31.
 
As the second half got underway Johnson continued to push the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition.
 
Roosevelt went into a scoring slump midway through the second half. They had a hard time hitting shots.
 
Johnson got hot midway through the second half. They hit their shots on the offensive end and were able to slow down Roosevelt on the defensive end.
 
Johnson came out strong in the second half and was able to take Roosevelt out of the game offensively.
 
Johnson came away with the 90-62 victory over Roosevelt.
 
The leading scorers for Roosevelt were Cobbs with 20, and Hicks with 10 points.
 
The leading scorers for Johnson were Mobley with 23 points, Elliot with 22 points and McDonald with 14 points.
