PROVIDENCE ACADEMY WENT UP AGAINST BIG LAKE IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

Providence Academy and Big Lake squared off in a boys’ basketball game. Big Lake started the game off in a zone defense. Providence swung the ball around the 3-point line as they were not able to get the ball inside.  

Big Lake’s Nate Sanford came up with some nice mid-range jump shots. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it. 

Both teams traded baskets early in the contest. 

Providence had a difficult time getting the ball inside against the zone. They settled for mid-range jump shots. 

Providence’s Dominic Miller was all over the floor. On the offensive end Miller was able to come off screens and make mid-range jump shots and layups. 

Big Lake had a difficult time scoring baskets in transition. They were not able to hit shots for a period of time in the first half. 

Neither team went on a run in the first half. The score was close throughout. 

The score at halftime was Big Lake 32, Providence 30. 

Big Lake looked to get the ball into the hands of Trenton Monson. Monson came up with layups and mid-range jump shots. 

There were several ties and lead changes throughout the second half. Providence was able to penetrate the Big Lake defense as they came up with jump shots.

Miller came up with some steals and turned them into layups in the second half. 

Big Lake called a timeout with 10:11 left in regulation. The score was Providence 48, Big Lake 42. 

The score continued to go back and forth late in the game. Providence’s Miller, Riley Loew, and Matt Richelsen all came up with huge baskets late in the contest. 

Big Lake gave Providence a scare late in regulation. But in the end Providence came away with the 62-57 victory over Big Lake. 

The leading scorers for Providence were Richlesen with 18 points and Baird with 16 points.

The leading scorer for Big Lake was Sanford with 12 points.
