A & A VS FISH

In the first game of the evening it was El-Amin’s Fish House taking on A & A Millwork.

As the game got underway both teams pushed the ball up the court and played aggressive basketball. The Fish house opened in a zone defense.

Johnny Gilbert who played for Patrick Henry before heading to Oklahoma made a monster dunk midway through this first quarter that brought the fans to their feet and this seemed to give his team a little momentum. Johnny has played very well throughout the summer league.

The first quarter was a low scoring affair with the Fish leading A & A 17-16. The low scoring can be attributed to zone defenses and both teams being a bit tight.

Dan Coleman the ex-Gopher showed some great moves and was hitting his patent 10-foot jumper to keep the Fish ahead in the second-quarter. Dan showed the crowd why he will be playing professionally in Europe in the next few months.

However with just over three-minutes remaining A & A made its move and took a 34-27 lead. Jamil Lott played well in the second and was the catalyst in his teams move into the lead. Jamil played great defense and pounded the boards. Dwayne Toatley also stepped up and hits some big shots late in the half. The Fish did cut the lead to 3-points at the half.

Half time the score: A & A 45, Fish House 42.

As the second half got underway A & A Millwork played up tempo defense and the Fish came out of their zone and stopped pressing. Travis Busch played well on both ends of the court and showed why he will get more minutes for the Gophers this year.

The game remained tight throughout the third-quarter with Luke Patterson making a nice contribution on defense, while both teams played high intensity run-and-gun basketball.

At the end of the third quarter the Fish lead by 2-points, 66-64.

Vince Grier led A & A early in the 4th quarter with his defense and ability to go to the rim. He also showed a great deal of leadership and help keep his team close.

With just over eight minutes remaining the Fish made their move and took a nine point, 74-65 lead. Dan Coleman and A.J. Wilson led the charge in their late surge. Although A & A Millwork never quit or let up, in the end, the Fish had too many young legs and El Amin’s Fish House walked away with a 95-84 victory over A & A.
