UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM ADDS TWO RECRUITS TO THE 2011 RECRUITING CLASS

According to the University of Minnesota, the men's basketball team has added Andre Ingram and Julian Welch, as they both have signed national letters of intent to play basketball starting with the 2011-2012 season.

Ingram who is from Minneapolis, Minnesota, graduated from Minnesota Transitions high school. After high school he played his last two seasons at Butler Community College (Kan.). Ingram stands 6-7. He is currently listed as a 235-pound forward.

Last season Ingram averaged 13.4 points and a team-high 7.7 rebounds per game for the Grizzlies. He shots an impressive 63.2 percent from the field. He will have two years of eligibility remaining for the Gophers.

Welch is a 6-3 point guard from Elk Grove, Calif. He played one season at UC Davis before transferring to Yuba Community College for the 2010-11 season.

Last season at Yuba Community College Welch averaged 19.0 points and 5.0 assists per game, and led his team to a record of 27-6 and the Bay Valley Conference Championship. He finished the season by being named the BVC Player of the Year.

Welch was named Big West Conference Freshman of the Year and also First Team Mid-Major All-American during his only season at UC Davis, having averaged 7.8 points in 18.5 minutes per contest during the 2009-10 campaign. He will have two years of eligibility left at Minnesota.
