BENILDE-ST. MARGARET’S TOOK ON HILL-MURRAY IN THE GIRLS STATE BASKETBALL CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

In the class AAA girls state basketball Championship game Benilde St. Margaret’s took on Hill-Murray.

Hill Murray came out to come out and take an early lead. Tressa Cichy found her shot in the early goings.

Hill Murray went on a run midway through the first half. Both teams were playing very defensive minded. There were not many shots taken by either team.

At the half the score was Hill Murray 22 and Benilde-St. Margaret’s 17.

Hill Murray went on a run to open the second half. It seemed that neither team was out of it.

The game went back and forth in the second half. Both teams played very good defense. The low scoring of the game was in reflection of the great defense that was played.

Tessa Cichy played really strong throughout the game. Benilde was able to climb back into the game. Hill Murray went on a run midway through the second half.

The game went back and forth until the end of the game. The game came down to the wire.

Benilde was able to come away with the 41-38 victory over Hill Murray. The leading scorers for Benilde were Kadijah Shumpert with 35 points, Olivia Antilla with 34 and Itisha Alexander with 21.

After the game I was able to talk to Olivia Antilla, Khadijah Shumpert and Itisha Alexander. I was also able to talk with head coach Bob Lyons.
