THE BOYS JUNIOR VARSITY BOYS’ BASKETBALL TWIN CITIES CHAMPIONSHIP WAS MINNEAPOLIS HENRY AGAINST ST PAUL JOHNSON

The Twin Cites boys’ basketball junior varsity game was between St Paul Johnson against Minneapolis Henry. Each of these teams won their conference titles.

Johnson looked to get out and push the ball from the beginning of the game. Henry started out in a zone defense. They didn’t want to give Johnson an easy shot.

Both teams got on the board early. Both teams pushed the ball up the court and there were fast break points for both teams in the early goings.

Henry used a zone defense in the first half. They did a really good job of pressuring Johnson and came up with some early steals.

Henry wanted to get the ball into the center’s hands. The guards did a good job of getting the ball into the big man’s hands.

Johnson did a good job of trapping the ball and they were able to create a few turnovers. They applied half court pressure and pinned Henry in the corners.

Both teams played very aggressively on both ends of the floor. Neither team was able to go on a run.

The defense was very tight. Both teams played very physical in the first half. Both teams took their time on the offensive end.

In a first half that provided lots of good defense, the score at the half was tied at 22.

As the second half got underway both teams came out fired up and they looked ready to play. Both teams kept the defensive intensity up throughout the second half.

Johnson continued to look inside to score. They also wanted to have everyone touch the ball on the offensive end. They passed the ball around a lot on the offensive end.

Johnson went on a run midway through the second half. Henry kept the pressure on Johnson. Henry didn’t go away quietly and found away to stay close to Johnson.

Henry made a comeback late in the game. They were able to knock down shots late in the game. But that was not enough.

St Paul Johnson was able to come away with the 53-45 victory over Minneapolis Patrick Henry for the junior varsity boys’ championship title.
