MINNEHAHA ACADEMY TOOK ON HAWLEY IN THE GIRLS CLASS AA STATE QUARTERFINAL BASKETBALL GAME

The Minnehaha Academy Redhawks took on Hawley in the quarterfinal game of the State Tournament at the Target Center. Hawley came into the game undefeated with a record of 28-0. Minnehaha had a record of 21-9 coming into the game.

Both teams started out playing strong. Hawley looked to get the ball up the court as quickly as they could. The defensive pressure that both of these teams played with were unbelievable. They were able to box out on both ends of the floor.

Minnehaha Academy’s Rachel Hansen played really aggressively. She went after the loose balls and was not afraid to shoot the ball from anywhere on the court. Hawley was trying to take her out of the game by really guarding her tough. They put multiple players on her.

Hawley was able to go on a run after being down in the first half. They got their shot back and were able to put on a little run together midway through the first half.

Both teams battled each other. Hawley was able quell Minnehaha Academy’s run before the lead got too big.

At the half the score was Minnehaha Academy 23 and Hawley 16.

The game was a defensive battle. Neither team took a lot of shots. Both teams played tight man-to-man defense.
Minnehaha Academy was able to take control of the game in the second half. They worked hard and were able to slow down Hawley.

Hawley didn’t go away quietly they fought back and kept playing strong aggressive defense. They were able to go on a run midway through the second half.

Rachel Hansen continued to get the ball and have the hot hand. She was able to come up with some big shots throughout the game.

Hawley was not able to get their offense going. The game was a defensive battle but in the second half Minnehaha was able to gain control of the game.

Minnehaha Academy was able to come away with the 56-31 victory over Hawley. This was Hawley’s first loss of the season.

The leading scorer for Minnehaha Academy was Rachel Hansen who finished with 18 points.
