MINNEAPOLIS SOUTHWEST TOOK ON EAST RIDGE IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

Minneapolis Southwest and East Ridge went up against each other in a boys’ basketball game.
 
Southwest looked to push the ball down the floor and looked to get layups. Southwest guard Akeem Smith was able to get his teammates involved in the offense.
 
East Ridge moved the ball down the floor quickly. They were able to get fast break baskets. Brian Ishola for East Ridge stepped up and knocked down some nice jump shots.
 
East Ridge called a timeout with 13:12 left in the first half. The score was East Ridge 10, Southwest 4.
 
Southwest was able to get some steals as they were able to string some baskets together.
 
Southwest called a timeout with 8:59 left in the first half. The score was East Ridge 20, Southwest 11.
 
Xavier Cole made some good jump shots for East Ridge. He was not afraid to shoot the ball from anywhere on the floor. If he didn’t think that he had a good shot he would pass it to one of his teammates for the assist.
 
Southwest kept attacking the basket. They were able to get everyone involved in the offense. On the defensive end they were able to frustrate the East Ridge players as they made it tough for them to hit shots that they put up.
 
Lanick Knight for Southwest was able get to the basket and get fouled. He was able to make his free throws. Knight was also able to get steals and turn them into points.
 
At halftime the score was East Ridge 41 Southwest 30.
 
The second half got underway with a lot of intensity. East Ridge attacked the basket as they looked to take time off the clock and get quality shots.
 
Southwest called a timeout with 15:24 left in regulation. The score was East Ridge 45, Southwest 34.
 
Southwest’s Edwards did a good job of attacking the basket. He was able to make layups and if he didn’t think that he had a decent shot he would pass it to his teammates for an assist.
 
Southwest swung the ball around the three-point line as they wanted to get into an offensive rhythm.
 
Southwest had a difficulty shooting the ball in the second half. They had a long period of time where they went into a scoring drought.
 
East Ridge came away with the 83-60 victory over Southwest. The leading scorers for Southwest were Ross with 19, Edwards 18, and Knight with 16.
 
The leading scorers for Southwest were Ishola with 24 points, Jake Knupp 19, Sid Tomes 12.
