ROSEMOUNT TOOK ON PRIOR LAKE IN A BOYS BASKETBALL GAME

On Dec. 17 the Irish of Rosemount and the Lakers of Prior Lake went up against each other in a boys basketball game.
 
Prior Lake started off in man-to-man defense. They wanted to make it hard for Rosemount to hit shots at the start.
 
Rosemount came out strong as they were able to get a 6-2 lead with 15:00 left in the first half.
 
Jason Faul for Prior Lake came up with some nice jump shots. He was not afraid to shoot the ball from anywhere on the floor. If his teammates thought that he had a good shot they would pass it to him. Faul’s shot was within the three-point line. Teammate Connor Bair came up with nice layups.
 
Both teams went into a scoring drought midway through the first half.
 
Rosemount went to a zone defense. That made Prior Lake have to take long shots.
 
Neither team went on a run in the first half. The defensive pressure each team applied made it difficult for the other team to hit shots.
 
Cole Northwick got hot in the first half and was able to knock down some big shots for Rosemount.
 
At halftime the score was Rosemount 31 Prior Lake 27.
 
Rosemount started the second half out in a zone defense. They played hard and they didn’t let Prior Lake make easy shots.
 
Rosemount continued to make shots in the second half. Prior Lake didn’t give up. They fought hard throughout the contest.  
 
Jon Sobaski was able to step up and knock down some big three-point shots that kept Prior Lake in the game. He was able to get the ball where he could make shots.
 
The game came down to the wire. The score went back and forth late in the contest.
 
Prior Lake came away with the 64-61 victory over Rosemount.
 
The leading scorers for Rosemount were Cole Northwick with 19 points, Matt Stephenson 18, and Grant Gotz with 10 points.
 
The leading scorer for Prior Lake was Sobaski with 23 points.
