EASTVIEW WENT UP AGAINST EDNIA IN A 6A STATE FOOTBALL GAME

On Oct. 25, Eastview and Edina squared up against each other in the first round of the Class 6A State Tournament. The game was at Edina High School. 

Eastview kicked off to start the game. Edina took over on their own 47-yard line. Edina looked to get the ball on the ground, but they were not to air it out on their first drive. Edina’s Connor Larson came up with catches as Edina moved the ball down the field.  On 4th-and-7, Edina went for it. 

Edina called a timeout with 8:42 left the first quarter. The score was Edina 0, Eastview 0. 

Edina decided to go for it. They were not able to come up with a first down. They turned the ball over on downs. 

Eastview took over on their own 40-yard line. Eastview’s Linoell Quincy Suggs came up with a 59-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was not good. 

With 7:46 left in the first quarter. The score was Eastview 6, Edina 0.

Edina took over on their own 35-yard line. Edina looked to move the ball down the field. Edina fumbled the ball and Eastview took over on the Edina 44-yard line.

Eastview got the ball into the hands of Suggs. Suggs looked to make big catches in the first quarter. Eastview punted on 4th-and-7. 

Edina took over on their own 42-yard line. Edina kept the ball on the ground late in the quarter. Haza Malim came up with a 46-yard touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was not good. 

With 4:30 left in the first quarter, the score was tied at 6. 

Eastview took over on their own 27-yard line. On 4th-and-2 Eastview punted. 

Edina took over on their own 2-yard line. Edina kept the ball on the ground as they looked to move the ball down the field. Edina’s Marcus Johnson came up with a first down run. 

After one quarter of play, the score was tied at 6. 

Edina used both the run and air attack early in the second quarter. On 4th-and-17 Edina elected to punt the ball. 

Eastview took over on their own 15-yard line. Suggs was all over the field as he came up with a 39-yard run.  

Eastview took a timeout with 9:10 left in the second quarter. The score was tied at 6. 

Eastview moved the ball down the field. They used both the running attack and the air attack to get past the Edina defense. Suggs was all over the field. He was able to get first downs on the ground. Suggs came up with a 12-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good. 

With 7:19 left in the second quarter, the score was Eastview 13, Edina 6. 

Edina took over on their own 31yard line. Edina’s Johnathan Bunce was all over the field. He was able to come up with catches to move the chains down the field. On 4th-and-2 Edina went for it. 

Edina called a timeout with 1:38 left in the second quarter. The score was Eastview 13, Edina 6. 

Edina went for it on 4th-and-2. Edina was able to come up with a first down. On 4th-and-6 Edina went for it. 

Eastview called a timeout with 25 seconds left in the second quarter. The score was Eastview 13, Edina 6. 

Edina’s Lucas Fleming came up with a touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was good. With 17 seconds left in the second quarter, the score was tied at 13. 

Eastview took over on their own 33-yard line. 

At halftime, the score was tied at 13. 

Edina kicked off to start the third quarter. Eastview took over on its own 36-yard line. Suggs came up with a short run. The defense had a hard time slowing him down. On 4th-and-4 Eastview punted the game. 

Edina took over on their own 17-yard line. Edina once again looked to move the ball down the field. 

Edina called a timeout with 8:16 left in the third quarter. The score was tied at 13. 

On 4th-and-7 Edina punted the ball. 

Eastview took over on their own 23-yard line. Eastview moved the ball down the field again as they looked for first downs. On 4th-and-8 Eastview punted. 

Edina took over on their own 33-yard line. Edina couldn’t move the ball down the field, and they punted on 4th-and-5. 

Eastview took over on its own 35-yard line. Eastview’s Angelo Paulucci came up with a 48-yard touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was not good. 

With 53 seconds left in the third quarter, the score was Eastview 19, Edina 13. 

Edina took over on their own 40-yard line. 

After three quarters of play, the score was Eastview 19, Edina 13. 

Edina called a timeout with 10:49 left in the fourth quarter. The score was Eastview 19, Edina 13. 

Edina went for it on 4th-and-6. Edina came up with a first down. Edina looked to get into the end zone midway through the fourth quarter. Bunce came up with a 14-yard touchdown run. The extra point was good. With 8:20 left in the fourth quarter, the score was Edina 20, Eastview 19. 

Eastview took over on their own 34-yard line. Eastview looked to move the ball down the field once again. The defensive pressure made it hard for Eastview to move the ball down the field. Eastview went for it and was not able to get a first down. They turned the ball over on downs.

Edina moved the ball down the field. 

Eastview took a timeout with 3:06 left in regulation. The score was Edina 20, Eastview 19. 

Edina went for it on 4th-and-7. They were not able to get come up with a first down and turned the ball over on downs. 

Edina intercepted the ball and got the ball back. Edina moved the ball down the field late in the game. They took a knee to run out the clock with under a minute to go. 

Edina came away with the 20-19 victory over Eastview.
