On Nov. 8, Northland College went up against Macalester College in a men’s basketball game. It was opening night for both teams.

It was the first game that I have covered this season. As the game got underway Malcalester started out. They pushed the ball down the floor and were able to score baskets in transition.

Macalester got everyone involved in the offense. They passed the ball around the three-point line and took time off the clock.

Northland called a timeout with 10:40 left in the first half. The score was Macalester 21, Northland 8.

Northland wasn’t able to hit shots that they put up in the first half. Even though they couldn’t make shots they were not afraid to shoot the ball.

Macalester took their time on the offensive end as they got everyone involved in the offense.

The Northland offense struggled to make shots in the first half.

Macalester’s Eric Sathy and Tyler McFarland were all over the floor. They were able to come up with mid-range jump shots and layups.

Even though Northland struggled shooting the ball in the first half. They were not afraid to shoot it late in the half.

At halftime, the score was Macalester 43, Northland 25.

As the second half got underway Macalester continued to push the ball down the court and looked to move the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition.

Northland continued to struggle shooting the ball in the second half. Even though they struggled they still found ways to get to the basket.

Northland called a timeout with 4:23 left in the second half. The score was Macalester 72, Northland 51.

As the second half continued Macalester continued to get the ball into the hands of Eric Sathy who was able to get to the basket and make mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot the ball.

Macalester came away with the 72-56 victory over Northland.
