ST. PAUL CENTRAL WENT UP AGAINST MINNEAPOLIS WASHBURN IN A FOOTBALL GAME

On Oct. 11, St. Paul Central and Minneapolis Washburn squared off in a football game. Under a coating of light snow flurries, both teams took the field. There was a sparse crowd on both sides of the bleachers.

St. Paul Central kicked off to Minneapolis Washburn to start the game. Washburn took over on their own 20-yard line. Washburn looked to move the ball down the field through both the air and the ground attack. Washburn’s Sir’Vell Miller came up with a 66-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was not good.

With 9:37 left in the first quarter, the score was Washburn 6, Central 0.

Central took over on their own 7-yard line. Central’s Bryant Virnig came up with big runs as he looked to get first downs. Central punted on 4th-and-7.

Washburn called a timeout with 5:28 left in the first quarter. The score was Washburn 6, Central 0.

Washburn’s Miller came up with a long run, but it was called back because of a flag. Washburn Jamar Nelson came up with a long run for a first down. Miller came up with another first down run. Jamarien Wheeler came up with a 24-yard touchdown reception. The two-point conversion was not good.

With 1:41 left in the first quarter, the score was Washburn 12, Central 0.

Central took over on their own 36-yard line. Central looked to keep the ball on the ground on the next drive.

After one quarter of play, the score was Washburn 12, Central 0.

Central tried to keep the ground. Central punted on 4th-and-13.

Washburn took over on its own 47-yard line. Washburn looked to get the ball into the hands of Nelson once again. Washburn Miller came up with a 47-yard touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was good.

With 10:35 left in the first quarter, the score was Washburn 19, Central 0.

Central looked to keep the ball on the ground midway through the second quarter. Central fumbled the ball and Washburn recovered the ball.

Washburn took over on the Central 39-yard line. Washburn looked to get the ball down the field once again. Nelson got the ball and was able to get the ball down the field and get first downs. Nelson came up with a 12-yard touchdown run. The two-point attempt was good.

With 5:17 left in the second quarter, the score was Washburn 27, Central 0.

Central took over on their own 20-yard line. Central kept the ball on the ground late in the second quarter.

Central called a timeout with 2:31 left in the second quarter. The score was Washburn 27, Central 0.

Central punted on 4th-and-10.

Washburn kept the ball on the ground late in the second quarter. Ramon Lee Jr. came up with a first down run. The defense had a tough time slowing him down. Miller came up with a first down reception. Lee looked to get into the end zone late in the quarter. On 4th-and-4 on the 4-yard
line, Washburn attempted a field goal attempt.

Washburn called a timeout with 46 seconds left in the second quarter. The score was Washburn 27, Central 0.

Washburn kicked off to start the third quarter. Central took over on their own 35-yard line. Central looked to move the ball down the field as they looked to get first downs. Central punted on 4th-and-11.

Washburn took over on their own 31-yard line. Washburn’s Austin Carnicom came up with a 13-yard reception. Nelson came up with another long run to come up with first down. Washburn’s Marshall came up with another long run for a first down. Washburn looked to get into the end zone late in the third quarter. Washburn found the end zone on an Andrew Gotziaman on a 3-yard run. The extra point attempt was good.

With 4:55 left in the third quarter, the score was Washburn 34, Central 0.

Central looked to move the ball down the field. Central had a tough time moving the ball down the field. The defensive pressure that Washburn applied made it difficult for Central to move the ball down the field. On 4th-and-15 Central punted the ball.

Washburn took over on the Central’s 49-yard line. Washburn moved the ball down the field late in the quarter. Washburn fumbled the ball and recovered it. On 4th-and-7 Washburn went for it.

After three quarters of play, the score was Washburn 34, Central 0.

Washburn turned the ball over on downs. Central kept the ball on the ground as they looked to move the ball down the field. On 4th-and-3 Central punted the ball. There was no return.

Washburn took over on their own 10-yard line. Washburn looked to move the ball down the field once again midway through the third quarter. Ramon Lee Jr. came up with a 30-yard run for a first down. Wheeler came up with another first down run.

Mason Willie came up with a first down run. That put the ball on the 4-yard line. Washburn’s John came up Lyman with a 32-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good.

With 2:13 left in the fourth quarter, the score was Washburn 41, Central 0.

After the touchdown, the clock ran because of the score.

Both teams played hard throughout the game. Washburn was too quick for Central. Washburn came away with the 41-0 victory over Central.
