CONCORDIA ST PAUL HOSTED VALLEY CITY UNIVERSITY IN A MEN’S BASKETBALL CONTEST

Concordia St Paul took on Valley City University in a nonconference men’s basketball game. Concordia was able to start off hot as they opened up strong. They were making most of the shots that they put up in the early goings.

Valley City was able to hit some shots midway through the first half. That didn’t detour Concordia because they continued to play hard in the first half.

Valley City looked to push the ball up the court in transition. They wanted to get the ball out of the rim and they got the ball up the court quickly.

For Valley City State University Mark Klingberg played well. In the first half he propelled the Valley City comeback. He played on the low block and he was a force in the middle. Valley City looked to get the ball inside to him before they looked to the outside to get a shot.

Valley City started out cold but they were able to make a run at Concordia St Paul. Concordia was able to withstand the run in the first half.

Sammy Ricks for Concordia St Paul stepped up and was able to knock down some big shots late in the first half. Matt Hackl was able to drain a nice two point shot as time expired in the first half.

Matt Hackl was able to nail a two point shot at the buzzer for Concordia. At half time the score was Concordia St Paul 40 and Valley City State University 27.

Concordia stated out playing in a tough man-to-man defense early in the second half. They were able to shut down Valley City in the early goings in the second half.

Valley City State was in a zone defense for most of the second half. They were not able to slow down Concordia. Concordia kept playing strong throughout the second half.

Valley City State was not able to sink shots that they were putting up in the second half. Concordia St Paul was able to come away with the 79-60 victory. The leading scorers for Valley City State were Mark Klingberg with 13 points and Calvin Kraft with 12 points. The leading scorers for Concordia University were Mike Cunninghan and Craig Heiman with 16 points.
