MINNETONKA FALL BASKETBALL LEAGUE STARTS OFF WITH HOPKINS VS APPLE VALLEY

Hopkins faced off with Apple Valley in the first game of the Minnetonka boys basketball fall league.

Both teams looked to run with the ball in the early goings. They were each looking for the fast break baskets.

Apple Valley looked to get the ball into the hands of Tyus Jones. Tyus is regarded as one of the top freshman guards in the state of Minnesota. I like the way he plays. He knows the game and he really tries to get his teammates involved in the game.

The scoring went back and forth early in the game. Neither team was able to go on a run early in the first half.

Apple Valley went to a zone defense midway through the first half. Hopkins had to pass the ball around the three-point line and take time off the clock.

Hopkins used a man-to-man defense throughout the first half.

At halftime the score was Hopkins 35 and Apple Valley 31.

As the second half got underway both teams continued to push the ball down the court. Tyus Jones was able to get the ball into his teammates hands when he was under pressure. Hopkins did a good job of trapping Tyus Jones.

The score went back and forth for a period of time midway through the second half.

Hopkins was able to make a run late in the game. Apple Valley missed a few shots down the stretch.

Hopkins was able to come away with the 90-79 victory over Apple Valley.
