WACONIA TOOK ON RICHFIELD IN A BOYS' HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL GAME

Waconia traveled to Richfield for a boys' basketball game. It was the opening game for both of these teams.

Richfield's point guard Shawn Ray Bear brought the ball down the court.

Richfield came out on fire. Waconia called a 30 second timeout with 16:57 on the clock. Richfield came out with an 8-0 run.

Richfield's Deshawn Jones came up with a dunk that gave his team some energy.

Waconia called a timeout with 14:53 on the clock in the first half. The score was Richfield 13 and Waconia 0.

Richfield did a good job of passing the ball around the three-point line. They wanted to take as much time off the clock as they could.

Waconia went on a little bit of a run after the timeout.

Richfield called a 30 second timeout. The score was Richfield 19 and Waconia 7.

Wibi MacDonald came into the game.

Waconia went on a run after the timeout. Richfield was still able to hit some shots.

Richfield called a timeout with 7:51 on the clock. The score was Richfield 21 and Waconia 16.

Matt Rachey for Waconia was able to get his shot going. Waconia was able to get with in one of Richfield at 25-24 with 6:20 left and took the lead on an Alex Schmitt three-point shot.

Both teams dove on the floor after loose balls.

Waconia continued to shoot the ball well late in the first half. Richfield continued to shoot the ball. They didn't get frustrated or down on themselves. They were able to get a few good fast break points in transition.

The pace of the game was very quick at the end of the first half. Both teams got the ball out of the net and were able to get the ball down to the other end very quickly.

Alex Schmitt nailed a three-point shot at the buzzer. The score at halftime was Waconia 43 and Richfield 32.

Waconia kept hitting their shots and continued their run at the start of the second half.

Richfield was able to get some shots to fall as they were able to go on a run.

Waconia called a time out with 14:26 left in regulation. The score was Waconia 47 and Richfield 42.

The score went back and forth through most of the second half.

Waconia continued to hit their shots. They got hot midway through the second half. Alex Schmitt really got his team going offensively as he couldn't miss.

Both teams traded baskets throughout the second half. I thought that both teams played well. There were a lot of players on the ground for both teams as they both went after loose balls and rebounds.

The game came down to the wire. Waconia came away with the 69-68 victory over Richfield.

The leading scorers for Richfield were Deshawn Jones and Erik Johnson with 14 each. Jared Noonan scored 12 points and Wibi MacDonald scored 2 points.

The leading scorers for Waconia were Matt Rachey with 18 points and Alex Schmitt with 19 points.
