MINNEAPOLIS DELaSALLE TOOK ON ACADEMY OF HOLY ANGELS IN THE CLASS 4A STATE SEMIFINALS

Academy of Holy Angels took on Minneapolis DeLaSalle in the class 4A semifinals of the Minnesota State High School League
 
Holy Angels kicked off to DeLaSalle to start the game. DeLaSalle looked to get the ball into the hands of Chris Williams. Williams was able to get past the Holy Angels defense. Williams fumbled the ball and Danny Hoffman for Holy Angels got it and ran 72 yards for a touchdown.
 
The extra point attempt was good.
 
With 9:25 the score was Holy Angels 7, DeLaSalle 0.
 
Holy Angels was able to move the ball down the field. They wanted to get into the end zone. The
 
DeLaSalle defense stepped up big and made Holy Angels fumble the ball. Then DeLaSalle's Williams fumbled the ball and Holy Angels recovered it.
 
Danny Hoffman found Adam Hoffman for a 31-yard Holy Angels touchdown pass.
 
With 11:22 left the score was Holy Angels 13, DeLaSalle 0.
 
DeLaSalle’s Williams fumbled the ball and Holy Angles came up with the ball.
 
Holy Angels had to punt the ball on fourth down. DeLaSalle fumbled the ball and Holy Angels came up with it.
 
Holy Angels got into the end zone on a five-yard run by Connor McCarthy.  The extra point attempt was no good.
 
With 2:18 left in the second quarter the score was Holy Angels 19, DeLaSalle 0.
 
DeLaSalle kept the ball on the ground late in the quarter.  
 
At halftime the score was Holy Angels 19, DeLaSalle 0.
 
Holy Angels looked to keep the ball on the ground on their first series. On fourth-and-nine Holy Angels elected to punt the ball.
 
DeLaSalle got the ball into Williams’s hands and he got a first down on a 34-yard run. Billy Hart found the end zone on a 31-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good.
 
With 6:00 left in the third quarter the score was Holy Angels 19, DeLaSalle 7.
 
Holy Angels got the ball back and they were not able to get a first down so they had to punt the ball on fourth-and-12.
 
DeLaSalle continued to struggle on the offensive end.  Williams found Darryl Akins Jr. in the endzone for a 22-yard touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.
 
With 39 seconds left in the third quarter the score was Holy Angels 19, DeLaSalle 14.
 
After three quarters the score was Holy Angels 19, DeLaSalle 14.
 
Holy Angels found the end zone on a Hoffman eight-yard run. The extra point attempt was good.
 
With 9:15 left in the fourth quarter the score was Holy Angels 26, DeLaSalle 14.
 
DeLaSalle’s Billy Hart found Isaac Hodge in end zone on a 40-yard reception. The extra point attempt was good.
 
With 4:24 left in the score was Holy Angels 26, DeLaSalle 21.
 
Holy Angels’ Connor McCarthy ran for a 58 yards for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was no good.
 
With 2:53 left in the fourth quarter the score was Holy Angels 32, DeLaSalle 21.
 
Both teams played hard down the stretch.
 
In the end Holy Angels came away with the 32-21 victory over DeLaSalle.
 
After the game I was able to talk to Holy Angels head coach Ray Betton and Hoffman and McCarthy about the game.
