NEW LONDON-SPICER TOOK ON DILWORTH-GLYDON FELTON IN THE CLASS AAA STATE FOOTBALL SEMIFINALS

D-G-F kicked off to New London to start the class AAA state football game at St. Cloud State University.  New London moved the ball down the field on their first drive of the game. There was a fumble and New London took over on their own 17 yard line.
 
New London also kept the ball on the ground for a good portion of the first quarter.  They looked to get into the end zone and they did with 2:42 left in the first quarter as Adam Essler for a short  run. The two-point conversion was good.
 
With 2:42 left In the first quarter the score was New London-Spicer 8, Felton 0.
 
Felton moved the ball well on the ground after the New London-Spicer touchdown. Felton’s Chad Johnson came up with a five-yard touchdown run. The two-point conversion also by Johnson was also good. That tied the score.
 
New London stuck with their running attack as they looked to get past the Felton defenders.
 
The score was tied at 8 after one quarter of play.
 
New London also kept the ball on the ground. On the first drive of the second quarter they continued to move the ball well. Bret Olson caught a four-yard pass for a touchdown. Ryan Vraa ran into the end zone for the two-point conversion.
 
With 9:16 left in the second quarter the score was New London-Spicer 16, Felton 8.
 
Felton went to the air as Reid Dahlen came up with a 20-yard reception for a first down.  Felton-Dilworth scored a touchdown and Johnson came up with the two-point conversion.
 
With 9:13 left in the second quarter the score was tied at 16.   
 
Felton attempted an onside kick and they recovered it near midfield.
 
New London marched down the field as they looked to take a lead into halftime. They did that as Ryan Varr found Ethan Bohlsen for a touchdown. The two-point conversion was also good.
 
The score at halftime was New London-Spicer 24, Felton 16.
 
New London-Spicer kicked off to start the third quarter. The New London-Spicer defense stepped up and made Felton turn it over.
 
New London-Spicer’s Adam Essler came up with a 21-yard touchdown run. The two-point conversion was good.
 
With 10:24 left in the third quarter the score was New London-Spicer 32, Felton 16.
 
Felton moved the ball down the field as they kept on running the ball.
 
Both teams continued to run the ball well. New London’s Essler came up with an 88-yard touchdown run. The two-point attempt was not good.
 
With 5:58 left in the third quarter the score was New London-Spicer 38, Felton 16.
 
Felton kept the ball on the ground again. They moved the ball down the field as they wanted to get another chance at the end zone. Johnson found the end zone on a five-yard run. The two-point conversion was not good.
 
With 45 seconds left in the third quarter the score was New London-Spicer 38, Felton 22. That was the score at the end of the third quarter.
 
Shane Zylstra came up with a nice catch for a touchdown. The two-point conversion was no good.
 
With 11:36 left in the fourth quarter the score was New London-Spicer 44, Felton 22.
Felton turned it over on downs.
 
New London’s Jarret Hatlested ran 12 yards for the touchdown. The two-point conversion was not good.   
 
With 8:50 left in the fourth quarter the score was New London-Spicer 50, Felton 22.
 
Felton flew down the field as to the end zone and they did on as they looked to get in and they did on a Jake Wick two-yard touchdown run. The two-point conversion was good.
 
With 7:37 left in the game the score was New London-Spicer 50, Felton 30.
 
New-London-Spicer was not able to get a first down so they turned it over.
 
Felton turned it over on downs. New London-Spicer moved the ball down the field well and with 4:55 left in the game Ben Beuning scored on a two-yard run. The two-point conversion was no good.
 
That made the score New London-Spicer 56, Felton 30.
 
Felton turned the ball over on downs.
 
In a hard-fought game New London-Spicer came away with the 56-30 victory over Felton.
