CHISAGO LAKES TOOK ON MARSHALL IN THE CLASS 3A STATE GIRLS BASKETBALL QUARTERFINALS

Chisago Lakes and Marshall went up against each other in the Class 3A state girls basketball quarterfinals.
 
Chisago Lakes looked to push the ball down the floor and get baskets in transition.
 
Marshall came out on fire as they were able to push the pace of the game. Marshall’s Hannah Bennett stepped up and was able to knock down mid-range jump shots throughout the first half. The defense had a hard time slowing her down. Her teammates however got her the ball in the paint where she was able hit her shots.
 
Chisago Lakes got the ball into the hands of Bryanna Fernstrom. She came up with shots from the paint. Fernstrom was also not afraid to go in and make layups.
 
Marshall’s Marah Mulso pushed the ball down the floor on offense and came up with layups. She used her quickness to get past the defenders.
 
Chisago Lakes called a timeout with 8:14 left in the first half. The score was Marshall 22, Chisago Lakes 15.   
 
Chisago Lakes was able to come up with some big shots after the timeout. Marshall couldn’t slow them down. Marshall did however hit shots on their end.
 
Marshall did a good job of getting everyone involved in the offense. They were able to pass the ball around and attack the Chisago Lakes defense.  
 
At halftime the score was Marshall 41, Chisago Lakes 21.
 
As the second half got underway Marshall continued to push the ball down the floor and make baskets in transition.
 
Marshall was able to score on fast breaks. They were quicker than Chisago Lakes in transition.
 
Chisago Lakes called a timeout with 13:31 left in regulation. The score was Marshall 44, Chisago Lakes 25.
 
Marshall did a good job of keeping everyone involved in the offense. They were able to not let Chisago Lakes get into a shooting rhythm.
 
Marshall called a timeout with 11:19 left in regulation. The score was Marshall 50, Chisago Lakes 29.
 
Fernstrom continued to come up with shots in the second half. Her teammates did a good job of getting her the ball in spots where she could shoot it.
 
Marshall was too much for Chisago Lakes to handle. Marshall came away with the 68-44 victory over Chisago Lakes.
 
The leading scorer for Chisago Lakes was Fernstrom with 24 points.
 
The leading scorer for Marshall was Bennett with 13 points.
