HOLY ANGELS TOOK ON WASHBURN IN A BOYS BASKETBALL REGION GAME

Holy Angels went up against Minneapolis Washburn in a boys basketball region quarterfinal game.
 
Washburn started out in a zone defense. That made Holy Angels have to swing the ball around the three-point line and take a lot of time off the clock.
 
Washburn’s Jeff Jones took the ball hard to the basket. He looked to score on layups.
 
Holy Angels took their time on the offensive end.
 
Washburn’s Quinton Garvis and Jones communicated well on the floor. They knew where each other were. Washburn as a whole communicated well but Garvis and Jones were able to come up with layups for each other.
 
Washburn took a timeout with 12:16 left in the first half. The score was Holy Angels 11, Washburn 6.
 
Washburn looked to push the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition. Washburn’s Kevin Gleason was not afraid to cast deep three-point shots. He was hot from behind the three-point line.
 
Washburn’s offense went stagnate in the first half as they were not able to hit a shot that they put up.
 
Holy Angels’ Taylor BonGiovanni got hot as he came up with some nice shots inside the paint. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.
 
Holy Angels’ Evan Beeson knocked down jump shots from the top of the key consistently in the first half.
 
Washburn struggled to shoot the ball throughout the first half. Even though they couldn’t hit shots they still kept trying and not giving up.
 
Washburn’s Evan Shepherd took the ball hard to the basket and was fouled. He was able to hit his free throws.
 
Holy Angels’ Charlie Koontz was all over the floor on the offensive end. He took the ball hard to the basket if he thought that he had a good shot. Koontz wasn’t afraid to also shoot the deep three-point shot either.
 
The score at halftime was Holy Angles 30, Washburn 20.
 
As the second half got underway Washburn continued to attack the basket. Gleason continued to look for layups.
 
Jones brought the ball down the floor and was able to get it into the hands of Garvis who looked for layups.
 
Washburn turned up the defensive pressure and was able to create turnovers and then they were able to get baskets.
 
Holy Angels called a timeout with 13:20 left in regulation. The score was Holy Angels 34, Washburn 30.
 
Holy Angels went to a zone defense that made Washburn have to take time off the clock in the second half. Washburn couldn’t get clear look at the basket.
 
Washburn’s Evan Shepherd came up some deep three-point shots that kept his team in the game. 
 
Jones was also not afraid to take a deep three-point jump shot. Which were usually good.
 
Washburn called a timeout with 8:08 left in regulation. The score was Holy Angels 38, Washburn 33.
 
Jones took the ball hard to the basket and came up with layups. He wasn’t afraid of getting fouled.
 
Holy Angels called a timeout with 6:54 left in regulation. The score was Holy Angels 40, Washburn 38.
 
Holy Angels continued to take time off the clock in the second half. They had the lead and they didn’t want Washburn to have any east takes at the basket.
 
Shepherd kept on draining three-point shots to keep his team in the game.
 
Holy Angels came away with the 54-45 region quarterfinal victory over Minneapolis Washburn.
 
The leading scorer for Holy Angels was Koontz with 22 points. The leading scorer for Washburn was Shepherd 18 pts.
