FERGUS FALLS TOOK ON MARSHALL IN THE GIRLS CLASS 3A STATE SEMIFINALS

Fergus Falls went up against Marshall in the state Class 3A semifinals. The score went back and forth early in the contest.
 
There was a media timeout with 14:38 left in the first half. The score was Fergus Falls 6, Marshall 5.

Fergus Falls stated out in a zone defense. They wanted Marshall to take long shots.
 
Fergus Falls did a good job of getting everyone involved in the offense. They passed the ball around and attacked the basket.
 
There was a media timeout with 3:37 left in the first half. The score was Fergus Falls 26, Marshall 16.
 
Marshall came up with some fast break layups late in the first half. They were also able to turn Fergus Falls over and make layups on the other end.
 
At halftime the score was Fergus Falls 30, Marshall 21.
 
As the second half got underway Marshall kept on passing the around the three-point line as they looked for seams in the in Fergus Falls defense.
 
Fergus Falls’ Hannah Bennett, Callie Graff and Sarah Buysse all came up with huge shots in the second half. They knew where their teammates were on the floor and they called for the ball in spots where they could shoot it.  Fergus Falls did a good job of communicating on both ends of the court.
 
There was a media timeout with 10:46 left in regulation. The score was Fergus Falls 41, Marshall 37.
 
Fergus Falls kept on looking to get the ball into the hands of Bailey Strand. She came up with layups midway through the second half that gave her team confidence.
 
The score went back and forth late in the contest.  
 
Marshalls’ Graff hit made her free throws with 3.7 seconds left to win the game.
 
Marshall came away with the 52-51 victory over Fergus Falls.
 
Marshall was lead in scoring by Buysee and Bennett each with 13 points, Graff with 12 points and Beekman with 12 points
 
Fergus Falls was lead in scoring by Strand with 22 points.
