OSSEO TOOK ON COON RAPIDS IN A BOYS BASKETBALL GAME

On Feb. 24 Osseo traveled to Coon Rapids for a boys basketball game. Coon Rapids started in a zone defense.
 
Osseo looked to get the ball into the hands of Giovanni Pastrano and Wheeler Baker. Jordan Dembley brought the ball down the floor and looked to get everyone involved in the offense.
 
Coon Rapids struggled to shoot the ball to start the game. They turned the ball over and Osseo was able to score baskets off their turnovers.
 
Coon Rapids switched between man-to-man and zone defense throughout the first half. That didn’t seem to bother Osseo as they were able to get to the basket on the offensive end.
 
Osseo’s Ian Theisen entered the game with just under 12 minutes to go in the first half. Theisen suffered a foot injury in December and has been unable to play for a portion of the season. He is considered one of Osseo’s main go-to guys in the paint.
 
Osseo’s Allen Anderson came off the bench and provided an offensive spark. Anderson was able to get the ball to teammate Elliott Kane who came up with some nice three-point baskets.
 
Coon Rapids called a timeout with 10:41 left in the first half. The score was Osseo 11, Coon Rapids 6.
 
Coon Rapids Jackson Bednar made some layups to keep his team in the game.
 
Osseo’s Jordan Dembley found his mid-range touch as he was able to knock down jump shots. If Dembley was not able to get a good look at the basket he would get the ball to teammates Pastrano or Connor Kittleson who were able to knock down jump shots.
 
Coon Rapids’ Taylor Croal and Brody Lang were each able to make layups late in the first half.
Coon Rapids wasn’t able to hit shots late in the first half. 
 
The score at halftime was Osseo 46, Coon Rapids 19.
 
As the second half got underway Coon Rapids looked to turn up the pace of the game. They wanted to score baskets in transition.
 
Pastrano continued to take the ball hard to the basket looking to get layups. Dembley was able to come up with rebounds and was able to turn them into points.
 
Coon Rapids attacked the basket in the second half. They were able to hit their shots.
 
Osseo was able to come away with the 84-40 victory over Coon Rapids.
 
The leading scorer for Coon Rapids was Bednar with 15 points.
 
The leading scorers for Osseo were Baker with 28, Kane with 15, Pastrano with 15, Roberson 11 and Theisen with 11 points.
