APPLE VALLEY WENT UP AGAINST LAKEVILLE NORTH IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Dec. 20, Apple Valley and Lakeville North squared off in a boys’ basketball game. The gym at Lakeville North was packed with fans. Fans from both teams stood in the balcony to cheer their team on.
Going into the game Apple Valley had an overall record of 4-1. Lakeville North and an overall record of 3-0.
Both teams took a lot of time off the clock early. Apple Valley could make layups off the break. Apple Valley could take time off the clock by passing the ball around the three-point line.
Lakeville North’s Trevor Schermann came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.
Apple Valley’s Nathan Macho came up with deep three-point shots. He did a good job of coming off screens and calling for the ball.
Apple Valley called a timeout with 7:59 left in the first half. The score was Apple Valley 20, Lakeville North 15.
Apple Valley took a lot of time off the clock late in the first half, by passing the ball around the 3-point line.
Lakeville North’s Nathan Reuvers came up with deep 3-point shots. He wasn’t afraid to shoot the ball in spots where he knew he could shoot it.
There were many ties and lead changes late in the first half.
Lakeville North called a timeout with 2:25 left in the first half. The score was Lakeville North 28, Apple Valley 27.
Both teams continued to push the ball down the floor late in the half.
At halftime, the score was tied at 32.
As the second half got underway both teams continued to attack the basket. Both teams went into a scoring lull.
Apple Valley called a timeout with 15:05 left in regulation. The score was Lakeville North 37, Apple Valley 35.
Lakeville North went to a zone defense
Lakeville North called a timeout with 13:27 left in regulation. The score was Apple Valley 41, Lakeville North 37.
Reuvers continued to come up with huge baskets to keep Lakeville North in the game.
Apple Valley was able to come up with steals on the defensive end and then turn them into layups on the offensive end.
Lakeville North called a timeout with 10:42 left in regulation. The score was Apple Valley 48, Lakeville North 39.
Lakeville North’s Jalen Lucas came up with layups in the second half. He also got hot from the mid-range. The defense had a hard time slowing him down.
Jones also came up with some big shots late in the contest.
Apple Valley called a timeout with 5:53 left in regulation. The score was Apple Valley 58, Lakeville North 50.
Lakeville North continued to attack the basket late in the game. They could make layups and mid-range jump shots.
Apple Valley called a timeout with 1:46 left in regulation. The score was Apple Valley 67, Lakeville North 54.
In a very defensive battle game and a good game all around Apple Valley could make shots in the second half.
Apple Valley came away with the 71-63 victory over Lakeville North.
The leading scorers for Apple Valley were Jones with 18 points, Mohamed Kone and Nathan Macho each with 13 points.
The leading scorers for Lakeville North were Reuvers with 25 points, and Lucas and Wahl each with 12 points.
