LANESBORO TOOK ON CROMWELL FOR THE 9-MAN STATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Lanesboro took on Cromwell in the 9-Man MSHSL state championship football game. Cromwell kicked off to Lanesboro.
Lanesboro kept the ball on the ground on their first series. Lanesboro was not able to convert on the first down. They set up a punt. Niko Anderson decided to run it. He was able to get a first down. Lanesboro was picked off by Derek Suhonen of Cromwell.

Cromwell got the ball back after Derek Shuonen’s interception. Jordan Suhonen made a 33- yard touchdown run with 4:02 left to go in the first quarter. Spencer Wilenius made the extra point attempt.

With 4:02 left to go in the first quarter the score was Cromwell 7 and Lanesboro 0.


Cromwell kicked off to Lanesboro after the touchdown.

Lanesboro got the ball back and they kept the ball on the ground on the next drive. Lucas Johnson got the ball and he came up big with a 21-yard first down carry. Lucas Johnson scored a touchdown on a 26-yard run. Braden Hanson scored the extra point attempt.

With 2:18 left to go in the first quarter the score was tied at 7.

Cromwell got the ball back after the Lanesboro’s touchdown. Jordan Suhonen got a 58-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good.

With 54.4 left to go in the first quarter the score was Cromwell 14 and Lanesboro 7.

After the first quarter the score was Cromwell 14 and Lanesboro 7.

Cromwell got the ball to begin the second quarter. Cromwell continued to pound the ball. They were able to pick up the first down. Jordan Suhonen brought Cromwell into first down territory. Nick Berg got a 3-yard touchdown run. Spencer Wilenius’ extra point attempt was good.

With 4:45 left to go in the second quarter the score was Cromwell 21 and Lanesboro 7.

Cromwell kicked off to Lanesboro after the touchdown. Lanesboro’s Lucas Johnson found Justin Gudmunson as he received a 52-yard reception for touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.

With 1:02 left to go in the second quarter the score was Cromwell 21 and Lanesboro 14.


Lanesboro kicked off to Cromwell after the touchdown. On the next play Nick Berg ran 72- yards for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was not good.

At halftime the score was Cromwell 27 and Lanesboro 14.

Jordan Suhonen rushed for a 55-yard touchdown for Cromwell on the first play of the quarter.

Lanesboro kicked off to Cromwell to begin the third quarter. Cromwell was good at keeping the ball on the ground.

Lanesboro got the ball back after the Cromwell touchdown. They continued to pound the ball on the ground. Lanesboro looked to score midway through the third quarter. Lucas Johnson got a 16-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good.

With 4:30 left to go in the third quarter the score was Cromwell 35 and Lanesboro 21.

Cromwell got the ball back after the touchdown. Cromwell’s Jordan Suhonen rushed for 86 yards for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.

With 2:45 left to go in the third quarter the score was Cromwell 42 and Lanesboro 21.

Cromwell kicked off to Lanesboro. On the next play Niko Anderson scored a 61-yard touchdown run for Lanesboro. The extra point attempt was good.


With 2:29 left to go in the third quarter the score was Cromwell 42 and Lanesboro 28.

Lanesboro kicked off to Cromwell after the touchdown.


At the end of three quarters of play the score was Cromwell 42 and Lanesboro 28.

Jordan Suhonen scored on a 20 yard run. The extra point attempt was good. With 11:54 left to go in the fourth quarter the score was Cromwell 49 and Lanesboro 28.

Lanesboro got the ball back after the Cromwell touchdown. They looked to get the ball into the end zone midway through the fourth quarter. Lanesboro was picked off by Cromwell’s Jordan Suhonen.

Cromwell turned the ball over to Lanesboro. Justin Gudmundson from Lanesboro scored a touchdown on an 11-yard touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was not good.

Cromwell got the ball after the touchdown. They were not able to convert on third down and punted the ball back to Lanesboro.

Lucas Gudmundson scored a touchdown with 1:57 left to go in regulation. Braden Hanson scored the two-point conversion.

Cromwell was able to come away with the 49-42 victory over Lanesboro.

After the game I was able to talk to Cromwell’s head coach Jeff Gronner, Jordan Suhonen and Nick Berg about the game.






With that victory Cromwell is the 2010 MSHSL Class 9-Man state football champion.
