UNDERWOOD TOOK ON CROMWELL IN THE 9-MAN MSHSL SEMIFINAL GAME AT THE METRODOME IN MINNEAPOLIS

Underwood took on Cromwell in 9-man semifinal of the MSHSL state football tournament.

Cromwell kicked off to Underwood to start the game. Underwood was on offense. On their first offensive drive the series Underwood kept the ball on the ground. They were not able to convert on fourth down and they had to punt the ball to Cromwell.

Cromwell fumbled the ball on their first drive and Underwood got the ball back. Underwood‘s Ben Woodman came up with a reception that gave them a first down. Underwood pounded the ball on the ground. Underwood was not able to get a first down and they turned the ball over to Cromwell.

Cromwell’s Jordan Suhonen got a 45-yard run that set up a drive in the red zone. Cromwell tried to make a field goal but it was blocked. Underwood got the ball back after the field goal attempt.

At the end of the first quarter the score was tied at 0.

Underwood got the ball to start the second quarter. They were not able to convert on third down and they punted the ball to Cromwell.

Cromwell got the ball. On the offensive end Cromwell looked to run the ball. They did a good job of getting the ball to their running backs. Cromwell was not able to convert they had to punt the ball to Underwood.

Underwood looked to get the ball into the hands of Ben Woodman. He did a good job of getting open and his teammates created holes for him to run through. The defense had a tough time getting hold of him. Underwood punted the ball back to Cromwell.

Cromwell was able to put together a nice drive. They were able to string together a few first drives as they tried to march to the end zone.

Cromwell threatened to score late in the quarter. They were not able to convert on downs and turned the ball over to Underwood.

At halftime the score was tied at 0.

Underwood kicked off to Cromwell to get the third quarter started. Cromwell continued to run the ball down the field. They were able to come up with a first down. Cromwell continued to run with the ball. On fourth down they were not able to convert. They turned the ball over on downs.

Underwood got the ball back and they looked to the end zone. They wanted get into the end zone. Brett Collins scored on a 1 yard touchdown run for Underwood with 2:33 left to go in the third quarter. The two point conversion was no good.

With 2:33 left to go in the third quarter the score was Underwood 6 and Cromwell 0.

Cromwell got the ball back after the Underwood touchdown.

After three quarters of play the score was Underwood 6 and Cromwell 0.

With 11:52 left in the fourth quarter Underwood’s Ben Woodman got the ball and was able to go on a 55 yard run for a touchdown. The two point conversion was no good.

With 11:52 left to go in the fourth quarter the score was Underwood 13 and Cromwell 0.

Cromwell got the ball back after the Underwood touchdown. On the next play Tyler Sulkowski received a 40 yard touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was not good.

With 10:23 left to go in the fourth quarter the score was Underwood 12 and Cromwell 6.

Underwood threatened to score again late quarter. Nick Berg intercepted the pass and Cromwell got the ball back.

Cromwell got the ball back late in the contest. With 3:34 left to go in regulation Josh Suhonen scored a touchdown on a 26 yard run. The extra point attempt was no good.


Nick Berg for Cromwell came up with a 26 yard run that brought Cromwell inside the 10 yard line. Jordan Shuonen came up with the touchdown.


Cromwell came away with the 18-12 victory over Underwood.
