MINNEAPOLIS HENRY TOOK ON MINNEAPOLIS NORTH IN A BOYS' BASKETBALL CONTEST

The Minneapolis Patrick Henry Patriots took on the Minneapolis North Polars in a boys' basketball
game. In their first meeting on Saturday February 12, 2011 North came away with the 76-67 victory
over Henry. Coming into the game North had a record of 12-10. Henry had a record of 10-13.
 
Both teams looked to go get into the scoring column early on as each team took the ball hard to the
basket.
 
Henry looked to get the ball into the hands of their big man Latrell Diquan Love who was posted on the
low block. Love did a good job of getting the ball on the low block and taking it strong to the basket.
 
Henry started the game in a zone defense. They looked to spread North's offense out. Henry also looked to take away the middle of the lane.
 
Both teams did a good job of playing the whole court. Each team used a full court press. Henry's Tim
Gill was able to come away with some big defensive rebounds.
 
North called a timeout with 12:16 remaining in the first half with the score Henry 11 and North 9.
 
North went on a run after the first time out. North did a good job of taking care of the basketball and
were able to go on a run.
 
North was very physical. They were more aggressive than Henry on both ends of the court.
 
North did a good job of trapping the ball. They were able to turn the ball over and get it back and score on the offensive end.
 
Henry didn't back down. They made a run late in the half.
 
At halftime the score was North 37 and Henry 30.
 
As the second half got underway both teams came out on fire. North looked to get the ball into Malik
El-Amin's hands. El-Amin was all over the court.
 
Henry took a timeout with 14:01 left to go in regulation the score was North 47 and Henry 40.
 
Henry continued to chip away at the lead. They didn't back down as they kept pounding the ball inside
to their big men.
 
North took a timeout with 10:29 with the score North 49 and Henry 47.
 
The score went back and forth late in the contest.
 
North went on a run and Henry couldn't get back into the game.
 
Henry did try to make a come back late in the contest.
 
In the end North was able to come away with the 72-59 hard fought victory over Henry.
 
The leading scorers for Henry were Latrell Diquan Love with 23 points and Wunell Ber-Cummings
with 11 points. The leading scorers for North were Malik El-Amin with 23 points, Shondale Strickland with 14 points and Daniel Pettit with 13 points.
