SARTELL-ST. STEPHEN TOOK ON ST. PAUL COMO PARK IN THE BOYS’ CLASS A STATE SOCCER SEMIFINAL

Sartell-St. Stephen (Sartell) and St. Paul Como Park went up against each other in the boys’ state soccer semifinal game at the Metrodome.

Both teams were quick to get to the ball and both teams played with a sense of passion on both ends of the field.

Como Park’s Seik Seik found the back of the goal with 34:39 left in the first half as he scored the first goal of the game.

With that goal that made the score Como Park 1, Sartell 0.

Both teams were able to move the ball down the field at a good clip. They each were able to get to the ball.

Sartell moved the ball well down the field as they looked for open shots on goal.

Como did a good job of moving the ball down the field. They commutated well when they were on the field. Thor Will got a couple of good looks at the goal midway through the first half.

Both teams looked good throughout the first half.

At halftime the score was Como Park 1, Sartell 0.

As the second half got underway both teams kept on looking for ways to get the ball to the net.

Como Park’s Seik scored another goal on an assist from teammate Will Kid with 37:57 left in the second half. That made the score Como Park 2, Sartell 0.

Sartell’s Kempton Schneider scored a goal with 24:45 left in the second half.

With 24:45 left in the second half the score was Como Park 2, Sartell 1.

Seik continued to shoot the ball at the goal but goalkeeper Colin Johnson came up with some great saves and didn’t let the ball get past him.

Both teams played hard throughout the contest. I thought that Como Park’s Siek played well as he scored two goals and was all over the field.

Neither team gave up in the contest. In a hard fought game Como Park came away with the 2-1 victory over Sartell.

After the game I was able to talk to Como Park head coach Eric Erickson about the game and making it to the state tournament.
