ST. FRANCIS TOOK ON FRIDLEY IN A BOYS' BASKETBALL CONTEST

St. Francis traveled to Fridley for a boys' basketball game. St. Francis came into the game with a record of 4-4 while Fridley had a record of 5-3.

Fridley looked to set the tempo of the game early. They were able to jump out to an early 5-2 lead with 16:00 left in the first half.

Fridley did a good job of passing the ball around the three-point line to take time off the clock. They looked to get the ball into the hands of Davaghndre Jones. Jones did good job of getting by his defenders.

Both teams took a while to figure each other out. After Fridley jumped out of their lead St. Francis tied it up. The score then preceded to go back and forth for a period of time.

St. Francis looked to get the ball into the hands of Andy Julikowski. Julikowski was not afraid to shoot the ball from anywhere on the floor.

Fridley guard Ryan Backstrom took the ball hard to the basket He was able to get his shot to fall.

St. Francis switched between man-to-man and zone defense. They wanted to make if difficult for Fridley to shoot the ball.

Fridley's Michael Murray and Backstrom passed the ball off to each other to kill some time off the clock at the top of the key. St. Francis would bring a different guy up and they would try to get in front of one of the Fridley players and make it harder for them to make that pass. If Backstrom thought that he had a good shot from the top of the key he would shoot it.

Jones had a couple of late fast breaks that ended up as lay-ups. That kept Fridley in the game.

At halftime the score was Fridley 33 and St. Francis 29.

Fridley continued to push the ball down the court and attack the glass. St. Francis didn't back down.

Cody Wald for St. Francis took the ball hard to the basket and was able to hit shots.

The score continued to go back and forth throughout the second half. There were many ties and lead changes in the second half.

St. Francis went on a run midway through the second half.

Fridley battled back. The game came down to the wire.

Fridley came away with the 69-64 victory over St. Francis.

The leading scorers for St. Francis were Jake Johnson with 24 points and Andy Julkowski with 17 points.

The leading scorers for Fridley were Nate Geving with 19 points, Davaghndre Jones with 14 points and Michael Murray with 11 points.
