THE EDEN PRAIRIE EAGLES TOOK ON THE EASTVIEW LIGHTNING IN THE STATE QUARTERFINALS OF THE CLASS AAAA STATE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

The Eden Prairie Eagles game into the state quarterfinal game with a record of 22-7 took on the Lighting of Eastview who had a record of 28-1.

Both teams got off to a slow start. Neither team gave up easy shots. Eden Prairie started the game in a zone defense. They looked to push the Eastview shooters and make them jack up bad shots.

Eden Prairie looked to get the ball into the hands of Abrian Adonis Walters Carpenter who was all over the floor. On the offensive end he looked to shoot the ball.

Eastview called a timeout with 11:21 left in the first half. The score was Eastview 9 and Eden Prairie 7.

Eastviews defensive pressure was able to cause havoc for Eden Prairie. Eastview went on a run after the timeout. Eden Prairie didn’t back down though. They were kept on shooting the ball whenever they though that they had a good shot.

Neither team gave up an easy shot in the first half. The game was completive by both teams. At halftime the score was Eastview 21 and Eden Prairie 20.Eastview shot 9-16 from the field that included going 2-14 from behind the three-point line. Eden Prairie was 8-19 from the field. That included going 0-3 from behind the three-point line.

The score went back and forth to start the second half. Each coach id a good job of coaching his kids. They were both loud and forceful when they shouted out plays for their team.

Lakeview took their time of the offensive end. They wanted to take time off the clock and get into their offensive rhythm.

The score went back and forth throughout the second half. There were several ties and lead changes in the second half.

Grant Shaeffer for Eden Prairie nailed a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.

The game was tied at 57 at the end of regulation.

In a game that came down to the wire. In the end Eastview came away with the 75-68 hard fought victory over Eden Prairie.

The leading scorers for Eden Prairie were Grant Shaeffer with 41 points, Sander Mohn with 19 points and Abrian Carpenter with 5 points. They shot 23-43 from the field. That included going 7-12 from behind the three-point line. Eden Prairie brought down a total of 25 rebounds 16 of them on the defensive end.

The leading scorers for Eastview were Joey King with 27 points, Darin Hough with 16 points and Jordan Bolger with 14 points. Eastview shot 22-44 from the field. That included going 6-19 from behind the three-point line. They were 18-25 from the free-throw line. Eastview brought down a total of 22 rebounds. 15 of them on the defensive end.
