MINNEAPOLIS DeLaSalle TOOK ON GRAD RAPIDS IN THE SEMIFINALS OF THE MINNESOTA STATE HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE STATE TOURNAMENT

Minneapolis DeLaSalle took on Grand Rapids in the state class AAA Semifinal game.

At the first media time out with 15:00 left in the first half the score was Grand Rapids 8 and DeLaSalle 0. DeLaSalle went on a 9-0 run after the first media timeout.

DeLaSalle woke up after the first media timeout. They were able to string together some baskets. They got the ball into the hands of Jarvis Johnson who played a very good game.

De LaSalle kept on looking for their chances to score. They got the ball into the hands of Tyler Moore. Moore was all over the floor. Johnson and Moore were the spark plugs for DeLaSalle.

DeLaSalle turned up the pressure on Grand Rapids late in the first half.

At halftime the score was DeLaSalle 26 and Grand Rapids 20.

Grand Rapids was 9-18 from the field that included going 0-2 from behind the three-point line. They were 2-2 from the free-throw line.

DeLaSalle shot 9-22 from the field that included going 4-12 from behind the three-point line. They shot 4-7 from the free-throw line.

As the second half got underway both teams continued to pound away at each together. Grand Rapids made a gallant effort but were simply outmanned by DeLaSalle’s talent.

In a very sloppy game DeLaSalle ran away with a 23 point victory with the final score 67-44 over Grand Rapids.

Grand Rapids was lead in scoring by Alex Illikainen with 20 points and Austin Pohlen with 13 points. Grand Rapids shot 16-41 from the field that included going 2-6 from behind the three-point line. They were 10-11 from the free-throw line. Grand Rapids brought down a total of 29 rebounds 22 of them on the defensive end. They scored 18 points in the paint and 8 points off of turnovers.

DeLaSalle was lead in scoring by Luke Scott who scored 20 points and Reid Travis with 17 points.
They shot 22-50 from the field that included going 7-20 from behind the three-point line. DeLaSalle was 10-16 from the free throw line. They brought down a total of 26 rebounds 18 of them on the defensive end.
