CHANHASSEN TOOK ON ST. PAUL JOHNSON IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL CONTEST

Chanhassen went up against St. Paul Johnson in a boys’ basketball game. Johnson looked to set the tempo early.

Chanhassen was able to move the ball down the floor as they looked to score baskets in transition.

The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team went on a run.  

Chanhassen played zone in the first half. They wanted to force Johnson to take deep 3-point shots.

Johnson’s Justus Murphy came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the first half. He was able to get past his defenders and come up with shots.

Neither team went on a run in the first half. The score was close throughout.

Chanhassen’s defense made it difficult for Johnson to get open looks at the basket.

At halftime the score was Chanhassen 39, Johnson 36.

As the second half got underway the score continued to go back and forth. Johnson got the ball into the hands of Savion Benton. Benton was able to get the ball down take the ball hard to the basket and make jump shots and mid-range jump shots.

Chanhassen was able to come up with deep 3-point baskets in the second half.  

Johnson’s Jalen Mobley came up with huge mid-range jump shots. The defense had a tough time slowing Mobley down on offense.

Johnson got hot midway through the second half. They came up with fast break layups and jump shots. Mobley was vocal on the floor as he called for the ball in the paint.

Johnson called a timeout with 8:30 left in regulation. The score was Johnson 64, Chanhassen 59.

Johnson came up with fast break layups. They did a good job of getting the ball down the floor and scoring baskets in transition.

Neither team went on a run in the second half.

Chanhassen’s Joey Witthus came up with deep 3-point baskets. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it. Witthus also was able to come up with mid-range jump shots.

Johnson came away with the 86-75 victory over Chanhassen.

The leading scorer for Johnson was Mobley with 23 points.

The leading scorer for Chanhassen was Joey Witthus with 29 points.
