MACALESTER WENT UP AGAINST ST. THOMAS IN A MEN’S BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 7,  Macalester squared off against St. Thomas in a men’s basketball game. St. Thomas jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead with 18 minutes left in the first half.

After a slow start by Macalester, they moved the ball down the floor and was able to knock down shots.

St. Thomas called a timeout with 15:08 left in the first half. The score was St. Thomas 12, Macalester 8.  

St. Thomas came up with steals and layups.

Macalester called a timeout with 13:04 left in the first half. The score was St. Thomas 19, Macalester 8.

Macalester was able to push the ball down the floor and was able to make layups.

St. Thomas was a lot quicker than Macalester. St. Thomas went to a trapping man-to-man defense and came up with steals and layups.

St. Thomas was able to get the ball into the hands of Taylor Montero and Marcus Alipate. Both of them were able to get to the basket and make mid-range jump shots and layups.

At halftime the score was St. Thomas 50, Macalester 20.

As the second half got underway Macalester looked to move the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition.  

St. Thomas continued to get the ball into the hands of Alipate came up with baskets early.

Even with a big lead St. Thomas didn’t quit attacking the basket and looking for layups.

St. Thomas came away with the 96-45 victory over Macalester.

The leading scorer for St. Thomas was Alipate with 18 points.

The leading scorer for Macalester was Brett Yaffe with 9 points.
