HOLY FAMILY WENT UP AGAINST HOLY ANGELS IN A JR VARSITY BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Dec. 17, Holy Family and Holy Angels squared off in a junior varsity boys’ basketball game. The Holy Family JV coach was Sean Kruger. The Holy Angels coach was Terrel Barnes.

Holy Family moved the ball down the floor and looked to get past the Holy Angels defense. Holy Family started the game off in a zone defense. They made Holy Angels swing the ball around the 3-point line as they got everyone involved in the offense.

Holy Angels’ Jeffery Robinson II came up with mid-range jump shots and 3-point baskets. His teammates knew where he was always on the floor and was able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it. Holy Angels did a good job of getting everyone involved
 in the offense.

Holy Family looked to score baskets in transition. They looked to intercept passes and create turnovers.

With 9:45 left in the first half Holy Angels called a timeout. The score was Holy Angels 16, Holy Family 14.

Holy Family kept on pushing the ball down the floor and looking for their shots. They did a good job of communicating on both ends of the floor.

Holy Family called a timeout with 8:32 left in the first half. The score was Holy Angels 19, Holy Family 17.

Holy Angels went to a zone defense and that made Holy Family pass the ball around the 3-point line to get an open look at the basket.

There were multiple ties and lead changes late in the first half. Neither team went on a huge run throughout the first half.

Miller kept on making shots in the first half. He came off screens well and was able to get to the basket. He was able to slow down the guy he was guarding on the defensive end.

Holy Angels Favin Pierce came up with 3-point shots and layups. He was also able to push the ball down the floor and score layups in transition.

Holy Family looked for the quick 3-point shot, and they took it as everyone crashed the boards on both ends of the floor. 

Holy Angels Gavin Pierce came up with 3-point shots and layups in the first half. He was able to curl to the basket off picks and make shots.

At halftime, the score was Holy Family 32, Holy Angels 29.

As the second half got underway Holy Angels continued to get the ball into the hands of Pierce.

Holy Family called timeout with 14:41 left in regulation. The score was Holy Family 36, Holy Angels 32.

Holy Family’s Jacob Warmke came up with mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the game. He was able to come off screens and make shots. 

Holy Family continued to get everyone involved in the offense and kept the ball moving down the floor on the offensive end.

Warmke kept on coming up with deep 3-point shots in the second half. The defense had a hard time slowing him down on offense.

Pierce kept on coming up with 3-point shots in the second half. With his shooting that kept Holy Angels in the game. Holy Angels did a good job of feeding Pierce as he was coming off screens and flashing to the basket. Pierce also came up with key rebounds.

Holy Angels called a timeout with 6:51 left in regulation. The score was Holy Family 47, Holy Angels 41.

Holy Family continued to push the ball down the floor and looked to score baskets in transition.

Holy Family called a timeout with 3:55 left in regulation. The score was Holy Family 51, Holy Angels 43.

Warmka kept on coming up with baskets late in the game. Holy Angels didn’t back down, they battled throughout the game. Holy Angels passed the ball well and looked for their shots throughout the whole game. Holy Angels put up a battle throughout the game, however.

Holy Family came away with the 59-46 victory over Holy Angels.

The leading scorer for Holy Angels was Pierce with 24 points.

The leading scorers for Holy Family were Warmka with 13 points and Ward with 10 points.
