MINNEAPOLIS NORTH WENT UP AGAINST MINNEAPOLIS WASHBURN IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

 Minneapolis North and Minneapolis Washburn went up against each other in a boys’ basketball game. North won the tip and they looked to push the ball down the floor and looked to take their time on the offensive end. They wanted to set the tempo early. 

Washburn also moved the ball down the floor quickly as they passed the ball around the 3-point line. Washburn got everyone involved in the offense. 

North looked to score baskets in transition. North did a good job early of getting everyone involved in the offense.

Washburn’s David Worman came up with mid-range jump shots, layups and 3-point shots. His teammates knew where he was always on the floor.

Washburn turned the ball over, and North used their quickness to get the steals and looked for layups in transition. 

There were several ties and lead changes early. Neither team went on a significant run. 

North called a timeout with 12:38 left in the first half. The score was tied at 11. 

Washburn passed the ball around to each other to get into their offense. They did a good job of talking to each other on both ends of the floor. 

North’s Davon Townley came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. If Townley didn’t think that he had a good shot, he wasn’t afraid to pass it to his teammates. 

The defensive pressure that Washburn applied made it difficult for North to get an open look at the basket. 

 North’s pressure got to Washburn midway through the first half. Washburn couldn’t make shots that they put up. Washburn didn’t get down however as they kept on attacking the basket and looking for their shots. 

North’s Davon Townley came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. He took the ball strong to the basket. He wasn’t afraid of contact. 

Washburn didn’t back down as they kept on attacking the basket and coming up with shots. Washburn didn’t back down from the pressure that North was applying. 

North called a timeout with 5:30 left in the first half. The score was North 30, Washburn 24.

Jake Huseman came up with deep 3-point shots that kept Washburn in the game. Washburn did a good job of getting everyone involved in the offense. Teammate Josh Rogers came up with steals and turned them into layups on the offensive end. 

At halftime, the score was North 47 Washburn 33.

As the second half got underway North continued to push the ball down the floor and loo for their shots.

North’s Townley and Wilson both continued to shoot the ball well in the second half. The defense had a hard time slowing Townley down on the defensive end. 

Washburn called a timeout with 15:38 left in regulation. The score was North 56, Washburn 36.

Washburn continued to look for their shot throughout the second half. 

 North was able to continue moving the ball down the floor and come up with baskets in transition. 

North called a timeout with 10:41 left in regulation. The score was North 63, Washburn 45. 

North took their time off the clock as they swung the ball around the 3-point line as they looked for their shots. 

Wilson and Townley kept on making shots for north down the stretch. 

Washburn played hard throughout the game, however. They kept on attacking the North defense. 

North called a timeout with 6:38 left in regulation. The score was North 73, Washburn 55. 

North looked to take time off the clock late in the second half by passing the ball around the 3-point line. 

Washburn couldn’t handle the North pressure. Washburn fought hard throughout the whole game. Washburn didn’t give up any easy shots. 

North looked to take as much time off the clock as possible late in the first half. 

Washburn attacked the basket late in the game. They were able to come up with layups late in the game. 

North came away with the 86-69 victory over Washburn. The leading scorers for Washburn were Jamar Nelson with 14 points, Sir'vell Miller with 11 points, and Josh Rogers with 11 points.

The leading scorers for North were Willie Wilson 24 points and Davon Townley with 22 points.
