MINNEAPOLIS EDISON WENT UP AGAINST MINNEAPOLIS SOUTH IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 16, Minneapolis Edison and Minneapolis South went up against each other in a boys’ basketball game. Going into the game Edison had a record of 6-6 while South’s record was 1-9. 

The game got off to a slow start as it took a while for each team to get into an offensive shooting rhythm. 

There were multiple ties and lead changes early. Neither team went on a run early. 

South took their time on the offensive end passed the ball around the 3-point line. 

South went into a scoring drought midway through the first half. They had a difficult time scoring the ball for a while. 

Edison went to a full-court press as they looked to turn South over mid-way through the half.

South moved the ball down the floor well in the first half. They got everyone involved in the offense. 

Edison was able to turn South over and score off the turnovers. 

South called a timeout with 6:08 left in the first half. The score was Edison 26, South 17. 

Edison continued to move the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition. Edison was able to knock down deep 3-point shots late in the first half. 

South kept on attacking the basket late in the first half. 

Both teams dove on the floor after loose balls late in the first half. There were multiple jump balls in the first half. 

At halftime, the score was Edison 38, South 35. 

As the second half got underway both teams continued to push the ball down the floor and looked for their shots. 

South’s Anthony Martin came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it. Teammate Sam Bradley also looked to take the ball strong to the basket. 

Edison used their quickness to go after loose balls and come up with layups on the offensive end. 

The game remained close in the second half. Neither team was able to go on a run early in the second half. 

Both teams fought hard throughout the whole game. It was a very intense game.  

South’s offense came to life midway through the second half. They were all over the floor and came up with jump shots and layups. 

There were multiple ties and lead changes late in the game. Neither team went on a run. 

South called a timeout with 4:25 left in regulation. The score was Edison 67, South 66.

The score went back and forth late in the game. Neither team gave up an open look at the basket.

Edison called a timeout with 1:51 left in regulation. The score was tied at 76.  

The game came down to the wire. Edison was able to make shots after the timeout. They were able to stall the South’s offense. 

Edison came away with the 87-76 victory over South.
