ST. PAUL CENTRAL WENT UP AGAINST SOUTH ST. PAUL IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

St. Paul Central and South St. Paul squared off against each other in a boys’ basketball game. Both teams looked to push the ball down the floor and looked to score baskets in transition. 

South St. Paul started the game in a zone defense. They made Central pass the ball around the 3-point line as they looked to take time off the clock and get into their offense. 

Central looked to trap South St. Paul and make it difficult for them to get the ball down the floor. 

South St. Paul called a timeout with 12:47 left in the first half. The score was Central 15, South St. Paul 13. 

Central swung the ball around the 3-point line, as they got everyone involved in the offense. There were multiple ties and lead changes throughout the first half. Neither team went on a huge run. 

Central’s Gavin Gothard attacked the basket and came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. The defense had a hard time slowing him down on offense. 

Central wasn’t afraid to come up with mid-range jump shots and layups. Central was all over the floor on the offensive end.  

Both teams did a good job of talking to each other on both ends of the floor. 

South St. Paul called a timeout with 4:20 left in the first half. The score was Central 31, South St. Paul 28. 

Neither team went on a huge run in the first half as there were multiple ties and lead changes throughout the first half. 

South St. Paul’s Marquis Gleb came up with mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the first half. The defense had a hard time slowing him down on the offensive end. 

At halftime, the score was South St. Paul 40, Central 36. 

As the second half got underway both teams continued to attack the basket as they looked for their shots. 

The score went back and forth for a period in the second half. 

South St. Paul called a timeout with 14:04 left in regulation. The score was South St. Paul 42, Central 41. 

South St. Paul’s Dodd continued to come up with mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the second half. Gleb continued to come up with mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the second half as well. 

Central called a timeout with 9:33 left in regulation. The score was South St. Paul 61, Central 51. 

South St. Paul continued to attack the basket throughout the second half. The defensive pressure that South St. Paul applied to Central made it difficult for Central to make their shots late in the second half. 

Central called a timeout with 6:18 left in regulation. The score was South St. Paul 65, Central 59. 

Both teams continued to attack the basket throughout the second half. The defensive pressure that South St. Paul applied made it difficult for Central to make shots in the second half. 

Both teams played hard throughout the whole game. Neither team gave up easy looks at the basket. 

Central called a timeout with 2:10 left in regulation. The score was South St. Paul 73, Central 68. 

The game came down to the wire. Neither team gave up easy shots late in the game. 

Dodd came up with clutch shots late in the game. 

Central continued to come up with shots late in the game. 

South St. Paul came up with the 82-76 victory over Central. 

The leading scorers for South St. Paul were, Alonzo Dodd with 22 points, and Marquis Gleb with 16 points.

St. Paul Central was led in scoring by Kaden Doram with 20 points, Caron Crowe with 18 points, and Gavin Gothard with 15 points.
