MINNEAPOLIS SOUTHWEST WENT UP AGAINST ST. PAUL CENTRAL IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

Augsburg was the site of the Twin Cities Orthopedics Holiday Classic. Minneapolis Southwest and St. Paul Central went up against each other in a boys’ basketball game. 

Central looked to move the ball down the floor and looked to score baskets in transition. 

Southwest called a timeout with 16:47 left in the first half. The score was Central 6, Southwest 0. 

Southwest swung the ball around the 3-point line getting everyone involved on the offense. Even though Southwest struggled shooting the ball early they kept on attacking the basket. 

Central was able to score layups in transition. They were able to get down the floor quickly and come up with layups. 

After a slow start by Southwest, they found their shooting rhythm mid-way through the first half. Southwest’s Camden Holter came up with deep 3-point shots. The defense had a hard time slowing him down. 

There were several ties and lead changes midway through the first half. Neither team went on a huge run in the first half. 

Holter continued to come up with mid-range jump shots and layups late in the first half. Southwest attacked the basket late in the first half. They were able to make their shots late in the first half. 

At halftime, the score was Southwest 42, Central 36.

As the second half got underway Southwest continued to push the ball down the floor and looked to score baskets in transition. 

Central continued to struggle making shots in the second half. Even though they struggled they kept on attacking the basket. 

Southwest’s Holter continued to make shots in traffic. 

Central called a timeout with 14:53 left in regulation. The score was Southwest 49, Central 42. 

Southwest was able to score baskets in transition in the second half. They did a good job of talking to each other on both ends of the floor. 

Southwest called a timeout with 11:51 left in regulation. The score was Southwest 56, Central 49. 

Both teams continued to attack the basket throughout the second half. 

Central took their time on the offensive end. They passed the ball around the 3-point line and attacked the basket. 

Southwest’s Christo Polydorou came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it. 

Southwest took their time on the offensive end as they passed the ball around the 3-point line. 

Neither team went on a run in the second half. The score remained close throughout. 

Central found their shots late in the game. They trapped Southwest as they brought the ball down the floor and tried to turn them over. 

Southwest kept on shooting the ball and coming up with shots late in the game. Central was not able to make their shots down the stretch. 

Southwest came up with the 76-67 victory over Central.  

The leading scorer for Central was Caron Crowe with 30 points. 

The leading scorers for Southwest were Holter with 27 points, and Poludorou with 23 points.
