THE FIRST GAME OF THE 2009 STATE HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT IS UNDERWAY

The first game of the tournament at the Target Center puts Blaine up against Minneapolis South. Both of these teams came out ready to play. South started out the game in a full court press. We will have to see if the press will bother this Blaine team.

South looked to push the ball up the court and really looked to get Tayler Hill involved in the offense.

Blaine tried to get into their offense early but that was a task that was made difficult by the South Tigers defense. Blaine made a little come back in the first half. They didn’t give up the girls kept playing hard.

In the first half Minneapolis South was able to put the ball in the basket. Blaine had difficulty getting the ball up the court.

The Blaine Bangles put up a fight in the first half. They played well. At the half time intermission the score was Minneapolis South 35 and the Blaine Bangles 17.

At the half the leading scores for Minneapolis South were Tayer Hill with 14 and Ameshia Kearney with 13. The leading scorer for Blaine was Alysha Heath with 6 points.

Minneapolis South game out on fire in the second half. They were able to make shots in the second half. They really looked good playing against this Blaine team. Blaine came out and made some shots in the second half.
The South Tigers didn’t give up in this game but they were able to run away with the victory. The final of the game was Minneapolis South 72 and Blaine 34.

Tayler Hill ended up with a total of 27 points.
