The first game on the docket is Minneapolis North going up against New Prague in the girls AAA semifinal game.
Both teams were trying to push the ball up the court at the start of this game. Both of these teams will look to get the ball out of the basket and push the ball. New Prague put the full court press on North from the start of the game.
Both of these teams traded baskets at the beginning of the first half. North will have to rely on their bench. They are a young team and Faith Patterson knows that and they used their depth to their advantage.
North played aggressively on the defensive end. New Prague really had to work the ball around the perimeter because North was just clogging the lane and they were able to close out on different players when they were trying to drive the ball.
Minneapolis North was able to put the full court press on New Prague in heavy doses throughout the first half. That didn’t seem to bother New Prague as they didn’t back down to it.
Both teams really battled in the first half. North was able to use their bench they rotated a lot of players in the game.
At half time the score was Minneapolis North 24 and New Prague 16. Both teams did a good job of distributing the basketball. They have a multiple players with different scoring leaders.
As the second half got under way both teams came out fired up ready to go at it. New Prague kept playing hard throughout game.
New Prague played hard and didn’t give up in the second half. They kept pursue up on the defensive end. They tried to trap the ball in the corners. They went on a run midway through the second half.
North went cold in the middle of the middle of the second half and New Prague was able to capitalize on it and they were able to fire off some shots that went in.
This game came down to the wire. New Prague really went to down wire. There was a foul called with North leading 44-43 as the final buzzer.
New Prague played an outstanding game they were lead in scoring by Maggie Weiers who had 16 points, and Hanna Strop with 14 points.
Minneapolis North was lead in scoring by Briana Edwards who had a total of 10 points.
