HERITAGE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY WENT UP AGAINST SOUTHWEST CHRISTIAN IN A BOYS' BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 14 Heritage Christian Academy and Southwest Christian squared off in a boys' basketball game.
 
Heritage started out in a zone defense. They wanted to force Southwest Christian to take deep 3-point baskets.
 
The score went back and forth early in the game. It took a while for each team to figure out what the other team was running.
 
Both teams took a lot of time off the clock in the first half, by swinging the ball around the 3-point line.
 
Heritage got the ball into the hands of CJ Woda. Woda stepped up and was able to knock down 3-point shots. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.
 
Southwest Christian called a timeout with 6:22 left in the first half. The score was Heritage 23, Southwest Christian 17.
 
Southwest Christian’s Trey Saandness took the ball hard to the basket and came up with mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the first half.
 
Southwest Christian called a timeout with 2:07 left in the first half. The score was Heritage 33, Southwest Christian 25.
 
Southwest Christian turned the ball over late in the first half. Heritage took advantage of that as they came up with layups off seals.
 
At halftime the score was Heritage 40, Southwest Christian 25.
 
As the second half got underway Southwest Christian came out playing zone defense.
 
Southwest Christian continued to struggle to shoot the ball in the second half. Even though they had a difficult time shooting the ball, they still put up shots.
 
Heritage called a timeout with 13:01 left in regulation. The score was Heritage 52, Southwest Christian 33.
 
Heritage continued to move the ball down the floor well and score baskets in transition. They were able to get everyone involved in the offense.
 
Southwest Christian struggled to shoot the ball throughout the game. They didn’t give up however.
 
In the end Heritage came away with the 65-49 victory over Southwest Christian.
 
The leading scorer for Southwest Christian was Jenson with 12 points.
 
The leading scorers for Heritage were Johnansen and Woda each with 20 points.
