LEGACY CHRISTIAN ACADEMY WENT UP AGAINST MINNEAPOLIS ROOSEVELT IN A GIRLS' BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 18 Legacy Christian Academy and Minneapolis Roosevelt squared off in a girls' basketball game.

Legacy started the game in a zone defense. They wanted to force Roosevelt to take deep 3-point shots.

Roosevelt pushed the ball down the floor as they looked to score baskets in transition. Roosevelt passed the ball around the 3-point line as they looked to take time off the clock.

Roosevelt had a difficult time shooting the ball for a period of time in the first half.

Legacy used their quickness to beat Roosevelt down the floor.

Roosevelt called a timeout with 10:35 left in the first half. The score was Legacy 16, Roosevelt 4.

Legacy took time off the clock by passing the ball around the 3-point line. They were able to get everyone involved in the offense. Legacy also was able to score layups in transition.

Legacy’s zone caused problems for the Roosevelt offense throughout the first half. They were not able to get shots in their offense.

At halftime the score was Legacy 41, Roosevelt 17.

Legacy’s Cali Weddle was all over the floor. She was able to come up mid-range jump shots and layups. Her teammates did a good job of getting her the ball in spots where she could shoot it.

Roosevelt’s Sina Claude and Katie Jones came up with layups and mid-range jump shots.

Legacy’s Tori Cole came up with layups on the low block. Her teammates did a good job of getting her the ball where she could shoot it.

Roosevelt called a timeout with 12:38 left in regulation. The score was Legacy 49, Roosevelt 17.

Roosevelt looked to trap the ball on the defensive end. Legacy was able to escape the trap and get to the basket.

Legacy called a timeout with 11:43 left in regulation. The score was Legacy 50, Roosevelt 17.

Roosevelt’s Lazhanique Bryant came up with midrange jump shots and layups in the second half. Her teammates did a good job of getting her the ball in spots where she could shoot it.

Weddle called for the ball on the low block. She was able to make layups and midrange jump shots.

Roosevelt struggled to make shots throughout the game. Legacy was able to hit their shots down the stretch.

Legacy came away with the 67-35 victory over Roosevelt.

The leading scorer for Roosevelt was Bryant with 16 points.

The leading scorer for Legacy was Weddle with 19 points.

The Steven’s Sports Report MVP’s were Roosevelt’s Bryant and Legacy’s Weddle.
