MINNNESOTA GOLD TOOK ON OLD GOLD IN THE 15U BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On July 20, I came back out to Bloomington Jefferson High School to catch the Saturday action of the MND1 Summer Classic.

The younger teams -- 15 and 16u -- started off the morning on all the courts.

I decided to set up my computer at a middle court. Old Gold out of Chicago, Ill. was going up against the Minnesota Suns in the 15u division.

The game got off to a quick start as the score went back and forth throughout the first half. This was a very competitive game.

Neither team went on a run in the first half. It was a defensive battle throughout the first half.

The Suns were able to string some baskets together late in the first half. Old Gold was not able to hit shots for about 2:00 in the first half.

The score at halftime was Suns 28, Old Gold 23.

As the second half got underway, the Suns continued to hit shots that they put up.

The Suns came out on fire in the second half. They were able to go on a 10-4 run to open the second half.

Old Gold caught fire and were able to get within four points of Suns with 10:00 left in regulation.

The score went back and forth throughout a good portion of the second half.

The score with 8:35 left in regulation was Suns 42, Old Gold 38.

Old Gold used a pressing defense as they looked to slow down the Suns on offense. The Suns were able to get through the defensive pressure that was applied.

Old Gold didn’t give up at all during the game. They kept on attacking the basket and looked to the baskets for their shots.

The game was tied at 49 with 3:37 left in regulation.

The score went back and forth late in the contest. In a very good competitive game MN Suns came away with the 59-54 victory over Old Gold.
